News: Schultz could be facing a make-or-break season in Edmonton, the Edmonton Journal reports.
Impact: The Oilers only signed Schultz to a one-year contract in the offseason for the second consecutive summer, a pretty clear sign that they don't trust him enough yet for another long-term commitment. Schultz has talent, but has never been consistent enough for the Oilers' liking. That said, it would be hard for Edmonton to let him go, as the blue line is already a weakness.

The Oilers are hoping that an overhauled coaching staff will allow the 23-year-old to take the next step forward in his development this season. He tallied six goals and 25 assists for a total of 31 points in 81 games with Edmonton this past season.
