News: Peters was released from the Capitals' training camp roster Monday.
Impact: Peters battled Philipp Grubauer for the backup netminding job behind Braden Holtby in the preseason, but it appears he's lost out. He'll likely end up at AHL Hershey to begin the season.

News: Peters stopped 10 of 11 shots faced during a 3-1 preseason win over the Islanders on Monday.
Impact: Dueling with Philipp Grubauer for the backup goaltender job behind Braden Holtby this season, Peters' age and salary are working against his chances to stay in the NHL ranks for the start of the season, but he's posted a solid 1.02 GAA and .962 save percentage in two preseason contests thus far. However, even if he outlasts Grubauer, he's unlikely to get enough action behind Holtby to be a meaningful fantasy performer this season.

News: Peters (knee) skated on his own before Tuesday's team scrimmage, Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post reports.
Impact: Peters is still working his way back from August knee surgery, but it was just a cleanup procedure that isn't expected to prevent him from being fully available for the large portion of Capitals training camp. The 29-year-old saw extremely light usage behind Braden Holtby as the Caps' backup goalie last season, and could be challenged for the No. 2 role by Philipp Grubauer in camp.
