News: The Blackhawks traded Nordstrom, Kris Versteeg, and a 2017 third-round pick to Carolina on Friday in exchange for Dennis Robertson, Jake Massie, and a 2017 fifth-round pick.
Impact: Nordstrom was likely included in the trade to sweeten the pot a bit, as the Blackhawks primarily made the move in order to shed Versteeg's contract and free up cap space in an effort to re-sign Marcus Kruger. In 38 games with the Blackhawks last season, Nordstrom registered only three points while spending the rest of his time in the AHL. He figures to split time between both leagues again in 2015-16, though he'll likely have an easier path to minutes in Carolina than was possible in Chicago.

News: Nordstrom signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Blackhawks on Wednesday, Brian Hedger of NHL.com reports.
Impact: Nordstrom waited several months before agreeing to his qualifying offer, but he's at least in the fold to compete for a spot in the Blackhawks' crowded bottom-six ranks heading into training camp. The forward recorded no goals and three assists in 38 games with the parent club last season, so a return trip to AHL Rockford could be in the works to open 2015-16.
