News: Cowen said last week that he's fully recovered from an April surgery to repair a torn abdominal muscle in his oblique muscle, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.
Impact: Cowen noted that the oblique issue had been bothering him for two seasons, but with the procedure finally out of the way, he looks poised to enter the start of training camp at 100 percent health. A former top-four defenseman for the Senators, Cowen will need to prove that playing hurt was the primary reason for the decline in his performance rather than a diminished skill set. Even in previous seasons, the former first-round pick has rarely been a useful fantasy performer outside of the hits category, where he's exceeded the 200 mark on two occasions.
