News: Van Riemsdyk registered an assist during Wednesday's loss to Winnipeg.
Impact: Now an elder statesman with the Leafs, van Riemsdyk has notched a point in consecutive games and owns eight shots on goal for the season. The high-volume shooter doesn't throw as many body checks as he did earlier in his career, and he's a plus-minus risk. However, barring injury, JVR should approach 55 points this year.

News: Van Riemsdyk will hit the ice Wednesday for the first time at the Leafs' training camp, the Toronto Star reports. He played for Team USA at the World Cup of Hockey.
Impact: He's coming off a disappointing World Cup of Hockey in which the USA struggled mightily. JVR tallied just a single assist with four shots in three games and finished minus-4. Still, he'll get up to speed at camp quickly and should deliver a solid 2016-17 season.

News: Van Riemsdyk (foot) told reporters he had "no complications, no issues" stemming from his broken foot and is ready to go for the upcoming season, Lance Hornby of the Toronto Sun reports.
Impact: Van Riemsdyk's midseason injury was just another setback in a horrendous 2015-16 campaign for the Maple Leafs. However, with the veteran back to full health and No. 1 overall pick Auston Matthews now in the fold, things are looking up in Toronto. Van Riemsdyk will look to regain his 2014-15 form, which saw him tally 27 goals and 29 assists while playing a full 82-game slate.
