WAM! BAM! Thank you, man! An NHL tough guy isn't necessarily someone who goes out and beats the snot out of an opponent every night. Sure, goons like that still exist in the league, but an NHL tough guy is more than that. He is a player who will not only stand up for himself and/or his teammates but will also play through and dish out pain or a game-changing check whenever his team needs him to do so. Each Wednesday, FOXSports.com's NHL Tough Guy Tracker will spotlight those players and some of the best scraps from around the league. — Punch Imback

John Scott vs. Brad Staubitz
On Feb. 28, Chicago's John Scott beat the snot out of the Wild's Brad Staubitz (pictured) after the Minnesota winger nailed Scott's teammate Brian Campbell with a dangerous hit on a delayed icing call.
Jordin Tootoo vs. Jared Boll
Got to give Nashville's Jordin Tootoo a boatload of credit. With time winding down in a shutout loss to the Blue Jackets on Feb. 22, the Predators' fireplug picked a fight with Jared Boll and more than held his own against a much bigger opponent.
Matt Hendricks vs. Zenon Konopka
On Feb. 26 in New York, Matt Hendricks woke up the Capitals when he took on Islanders tough guy Zenon Konopka. Although Hendricks lost his second-period bout with Konopka, Washington did battle back from a two-goal deficit to score a 3-2 victory.
Jason Strudwick vs. Cam Janssen
On Feb. 25 in Edmonton, Jason Strudwick used his reach and a plethora of lefts to dispose of Blues ruffian Cam Janssen. In only his second fight of the season, Strudwick stood tall against the more experienced pugilist, landing punches early and often on the rugged St. Louis winger.
Kyle Chipchura vs. Kyle Clifford
Anaheim's Kyle Chipchura gets Tough Guy of the Week honors for getting back up and continuing to scrap with LA's Kyle Clifford after getting rocked early by a face-seeking missile in a one-sided bout with the Kings rookie on Feb. 23.
B.J. Crombeen vs. Tanner Glass
On Feb. 24 in Vancouver, it didn't take long for the Blues' B.J. Crombeen to kick some Glass. Two minutes into a clash with the Canucks, the rough-and-tough forward took on and beat Tanner Glass following an offensive zone faceoff.
Sheldon Brookbank vs. Cody McLeod
Blood boiled over early on Feb. 27 in Anaheim in a game between the Ducks and the Avalanche. The two teams squared off three times in the opening session, with Sheldon Brookbank bringing the home crowd to its feet 2:47 into the game by knocking around Colorado tough guy Cody McLeod.
Tim Jackman vs. Ryane Clowe
On Feb. 25 in Calgary, San Jose's Ryane Clowe was a one-man wrecking crew, netting a goal and a fight win over the Flames' Tim Jackman in regulation before potting the game-decider in the 4-3 shootout victory over Calgary.
Milan Lucic vs. Jim Vandermeer
With his team up by one goal in the third period Feb. 27 at Edmonton, Boston's Milan Lucic went to the net looking for a rebound and instead found the Oilers' Jim Vandermeer. The two NHL big boys unloaded on each other for more than a minute in this highly entertaining bout, with Vandermeer getting in the better of the blows.
Jody Shelley vs. Nolan Yonkman
While Jody Shelley cracked Coyotes defenseman Nolan Yonkman several times Feb. 22 at Philadelphia in a rock-'em, sock-'em second-period match, in the end it was the Flyers' tough guy who really got cracked. Despite "winning" the fight against Yonkman, Shelley needed about 60 stitches to close up several cuts on his forehead.
