Dallas Stars Player News: Last 7 days, All Positions

News: Benn scored on the power play and added two assists in Thursday's 5-4 win at Arizona.
Impact: Benn got revenge on Arizona for snapping his three-game point streak Tuesday, starting a new one in style with this three-point effort. He's off to a hot start with the extra man, as Benn's first-period goal was his fourth power-play point in seven games. Both of Benn's assists came on third-period tallies by Tyler Seguin at even strength.
News: Seguin scored twice in Thursday's 5-4 win over Arizona.
Impact: Seguin broke a 3-3 tie 8:20 into the third and added another goal later in the frame to secure a victory. The gifted sniper's three goals and two assists over the past three games have erased all traces of a slow start by bringing him back to a point-per-game pace for the season. With "only" five shots in this one, Seguin's season average dropped to 6.0 shots per game.
News: Bishop made 27 saves in Thursday's 5-4 win over Arizona.
Impact: Bishop beat the Coyotes for the second consecutive start, though this performance was far less impressive than Tuesday's 3-1 win. He surrendered two goals apiece to Derek Stepan and Clayton Keller while facing a season-high 31 shots. Dallas' defensive resurgence has Bishop looking like a top-tier goaltender in his first year with the high-scoring club.
News: Hamhuis netted the game-winning goal and added an assist Tuesday against the Coyotes.
Impact: Hamhuis skated 19:44 in the victory and was credited with three hits. The veteran blueliner was held without a point through his first three games of the season, but got involved in the offense Tuesday. He's very reliable as a defenseman for Dallas, but his offensive upside remains quite low. He only managed 16 points in 2016-17 and is more known for his play in his own end of the rink. He'll chip in up front occasionally, but Hamhuis should be avoided from a fantasy perspective in anything but the deepest of leagues.
News: Oleksiak will be in the lineup Thursday night against host Arizona, Mark Stepneski of the Stars' official site reports.
Impact: The smooth-skating defenseman reportedly will replace Julius Honka, who's gone scoreless with a minus-2 rating to start the season. Oleksiak was given a two-game break himself after skating to a minus-4 clip through the first four contests.
News: Honka will sit out Thursday's road game against the Coyotes, Mark Stepneski of the Stars' official site reports.
Impact: The young defenseman will ride the pine after dropping goose eggs with a minus-2 rating through his first four contests. He'll reportedly will be replaced by Jamie Oleksiak, who's sat out the past two games.
News: Bishop will work between the pipes for Thursday's road game against the Coyotes, Mark Stepneski of the Stars' official site reports.
Impact: Why not? Bishop has won two straight, including his defeating the 'Yotes on home ice with a 27-save performance Tuesday. He remains on the fringe of the elite fantasy goalies, so start him with confidence.
News: Hamhuis had a goal and an assist as the Stars beat the Coyotes 3-1 on Tuesday.
Impact: The 14-year veteran notched his first points of the season after tallying one goal and 15 points with a minus-7 rating in 79 games last year.
News: Faksa had a goal and an assist as the Stars beat the Coyotes 3-1 on Tuesday.
Impact: Faksa's points were his first of the season after tallying 12 goals and 21 assists in 80 games last season.
News: Radulov collected an empty-net goal Tuesday, sealing a 3-1 home win over the Coyotes.
Impact: This was the feisty Russian's first career tally with the Stars, but he'd added a pair of helpers over five games heading into the contest. Radulov is in prime position to succeed for his fantasy owners, as he has a top-line, power-play assignment with Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin, who rank among the top forwards in the entire league.
News: Bishop stopped 27 of 28 shots in Tuesday's win over Arizona.
Impact: That's consecutive victories for Bishop, who is having a strong start with his new team. The 30-year-old is sporting a .944 save percentage through five appearances and finally giving Dallas some reason to be optimistic about its goaltending situation. With a career .919 save percentage and several outstanding seasons in Tampa Bay to his name, Bishop is a proven starting netminder who should remain a fantasy asset on a Stars team loaded with offensive talent up front.
News: Faksa recorded his first goal and assist in Tuesday's 3-1 victory against the Coyotes.
Impact: After being held without a point in his first five games, Faksa earned a multi-point performance despite just 11:41 of ice time. The 6-foot-3 forward is essentially locked in to a bottom-six role and won't see time on the power play barring any injuries, so this scoring output shouldn't be expected often.
News: Benn had his three-game point streak snapped in Tuesday's win over Arizona.
Impact: Benn still managed to put six pucks on net, finishing with a plus-1 rating, two PIM, two blocked shots and a hit. Even in a pointless effort, Benn manages to bring a little something to your roster.
News: Bishop will get the starting nod against the Coyotes on Tuesday, Sean Shapiro of NHL.com reports.
Impact: In his opening four contests of the year, Bishop has registered a 1.62 GAA with a 2-1-0 record. Unfortunately for the netminder, the Stars are averaging a mere 2.20 goals per game -- seventh worst in the league -- so he probably shouldn't bank on too much offensive support.
News: Methot finished Saturday's win over Colorado with one shot and a plus-1 rating.
Impact: Through five games with his new team, Methot has no points and just three shots. His contributions to fantasy rosters has been minimal, but he's provided owners with nine blocked shots and a team-leading 15 hits.
News: Radulov recorded a pair of shots and a plus-1 rating in Saturday's win over Dallas.
Impact: Through five games with the Stars, Radulov is still looking for his first goal with his new club. He's logged 12 shots in those contests, and played 20:21 in Saturday's game with 6:03 coming on the power play -- the scoring will come.
News: Smith made the Opening Night lineup but hasn't suited up since.
Impact: There wasn't an impression that Smith would have a big fantasy impact this season, and his inability to maintain a roster spot confirms his irrelevance -- at least for now.
News: Klingberg was held without a point in Saturday's win over Colorado, ending a four-game point streak.
Impact: Despite being held off the scoresheet Saturday, Klingberg has maintained a point-per-game pace. Through five games, he has two goals and three assists along with 16 shots.
News: Five games into the season, Pateryn still hasn't played a game with the Stars.
Impact: It looked like his odds of earning a spot increased after Colorado claimed Patrik Nemeth off waivers. However, with eight defenders still on the roster, it's unlikely Pateryn will make a big fantasy impact this season.
News: Johns finished Saturday's win over the Avalanche with an assist and a team-leading six hits.
Impact: It was a solid game for Johns, who contributed three shots and three blocked shots. His ceiling isn't high, but he's capable of contributing decent numbers across categories.
News: Seguin had a goal and a assist for his first multi-point game of the season Saturday in a win over Colorado.
Impact: Seguin also had his first career fight in the third period against former teammate Patrik Nemeth, giving the center his first career Gordie Howe Hat Trick.
News: Lindell scored a goal on five shots in a 3-1 victory against the Avalanche on Saturday.
Impact: Those five shots were a career high and the most for the team other than Tyler Seguin on Saturday. Lindell already has a goal and an assist in five games after posting six goals and 18 points in his first full NHL season. With him playing nearly two extra minutes per game compared to a season ago, Lindell will probably have every opportunity to surpass the numbers he posted in 2016-17.
News: Seguin delivered his first multi-point game of the season in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Avalanche. He scored a power-play goal and added an assist.
Impact: Seguin has three goals and one assist in five games so far; all three of those snipes have come with the man advantage. Seguin topped 70 points last season, but failed to crack 30 goals for the first time in four seasons (he had 26). He's firing loads of shots -- 36 already -- but his shooting percentage is way below his career average. A little puck luck should see that climb back up and the goals will follow.
News: Bishop allowed one goal on 23 shots in a 3-1 victory against the Avalanche on Saturday.
Impact: The 30-year-old wasn't tested much, facing only 12 shots through the first two periods, including four in the first 20 minutes, but Bishop stopped pretty much everything thrown his way. He's off to a tremendous start this season, holding opponents to under three goals in three of his four starts. With Bishop, it looks like Dallas will finally have a strong fantasy goaltender.
News: Benn scored a goal and added an assist in Saturday's 3-1 win over Colorado.
Impact: After going pointless in his first two games, Benn has put up points in three straight games. A rebound by Benn will be critical to the Stars' success this season. So far, so good.
News: Hamhuis (groin) will return to game action Saturday, as the Stars welcome the Avalanche to American Airlines Center, NHL.com reports.
Impact: The Stars went 1-1-0 in the two games that Hamhuis missed. He's a steady shot blocker (172 of those over the last two seasons) but the veteran doesn't consistently clear the 20-minute mark like he had in his prime with the Canucks. Still, he's available if you need him Saturday.
News: Bishop was designated as Saturday's home starter versus the Avalanche, Sean Shapiro of NHL.com reports.
Impact: Last season, the Avs sat in the basement of the league standings, finishing with a mere 48 points and egregious minus-112 goal differential. However, they're sitting atop the Western Conference to start the 2017-18 campaign and that means this will be no cakewalk for Bishop, even though he's set aside 69 of 74 shots for robust peripherals (1.85 GAA, .932 save percentage) through three games this season.
News: Benn netted his first goal of the season in Thursday's loss to the Predators.
Impact: It took four games, but the top-line winger is now on the board. The goal came with the man advantage, where Benn has struck for at least 10 power-play goals in each of his previous three seasons. The 28-year-old is a must-own in all fantasy leagues and will look to bounce back in the goal-scoring department after he failed to hit 30 goals in 2016-17 following a 40-goal season. The lethal sniper now has two points and four PIM through four contests.
News: Bishop stopped 27 of 30 shots in Thursday's 4-1 loss to Nashville.
Impact: It was a strong showing from Bishop, but opposing netminder Pekka Rinne was just that much better. The 6-foot-7 goaltender is the starter in Dallas this season and is looking to rebound from a disappointing 2016-17 campaign split between the Lightning and Kings. The Stars are lacking on defense, so while they may score plenty of goals, the losses could pile up for Bishop. The 30-year-old could still make for a quality fantasy option, as he's delivered strong rate stats in the past and is capable of stealing games.
