News: The Coyotes have signed Potter to a one-year, two-way contract, and sent him to the minors, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Impact: Potter was in training camp on a professional tryout contract. He made his way into 62 games with the Oilers back in 2011-12, though he's only seen 58 games between the Oilers, Bruins and Flames since then. There is no evidence at this point to suggest that Potter will suddenly earn a full-time role with the Yotes.

News: Potter signed a professional tryout contract with the Coyotes on Wednesday.
Impact: Potter spent time in both the minors and in the NHL with the Flames last season, serving mostly as a seventh defenseman for the parent club. At this point in his career, the 31-year-old is best utilized in a depth capacity at the NHL level that involves little or no ice time, a role which the Coyotes may be inclined to give him if they decide some of their younger options on the blue line need to play heavier minutes in the minors.
