News: Jarius Wright took most of the first team reps at slot receiver in spring practices and is seen in a battle with Simpson for the job, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Impact: Simpson worked mostly with the second team, according to the report, but it's also possible he could win a role as a deep threat in addition to use in the slot. It's also worth noting that there's a possibility that Simpson may face NFL discipline stemming from his arrest on suspicion of drunken driving last November.

News: Rudolph has lost 15 pounds this offseason as he anticipates a more active role in Minnesota's passing game, ESPN reports. "I feel like I run a lot smoother than I did at 275 [pounds]," he said.
Impact: Ruldolph said the lighter weight makes it easier for him getting in and out of breaks. New Vikings offensive coordinator Norv Turner has had success with making tight ends a big part of the passing game (Antonio Gates, Jordan Cameron), so Rudolph could see his role increase. It sounds like Rudolph is confident enough in the trend to lose weight and alter his offseason workout as a result.

News: Though Simpson slots in behind Cordarrelle Patterson and Greg Jennings in the Vikings' wideout pecking order, he could emerge as a deep threat in coordinator Norv Turner's offense, ESPN.com reports.
Impact: Simpson, who notched 48 catches for 726 yards and one touchdown on 102 targets for the Vikings in 2013, caught Turner's eye during the offseason. However, at this stage, which QB will be throwing in the wideout's direction this season has yet to be solidified. It's also worth noting that there's a possibility that Simpson may face NFL discipline stemming from his arrest on suspicion of drunken driving last November.
