News: Jones has a broken foot that will sideline him for several weeks, according to coach Marvin Lewis.
Impact: Big things were expected of Jones entering 2014 after he had 51 catches for 712 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2013, his second season in the league. It's unclear exactly when he'll be able to make his season debut.

News: The Texans have signed Manning, NFL.com reports.
Impact: Manning, who was limited to 24 tackles and a sack in six games for the Texans in 2013 due to a knee injury, returns to Houston after a stint on the Bengals' roster. He'll give the team added depth at safety following the release of Chris Clemons.
Sun. Aug 31, 2014 | STATS
News: The Houston Texans are welcoming back safety Danieal Manning.
Impact: Manning was a second-round pick by Chicago in 2006 and played his first five seasons with the Bears. He was signed along with cornerback Johnathan Joseph in 2011 to provide leadership to a secondary that was part of the league's worst pass defense the previous season. Manning made 124 tackles and intercepted four passes in his previous three seasons in Houston.
Aug 31, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Manning is expected to sign with the Texans, pending a physical, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact: Manning was released by the Bengals this weekend, but apparently will find a job with the team he played for between 2011 and 2013.
Sat. Aug 30, 2014 | RotoWire
News: McCarron (shoulder) will be placed on the reserve/non-football injury list, ruling him out for at least the first six games of the season, NFL.com reports.
Impact: McCarron has been dealing with a shoulder injury since at least mid-July, with his placement on the NFI list indicating that it's either a lingering issue from college, or something otherwise acquired outside of the Bengals' facilities. With Jason Campbell signed to serve as Andy Dalton's top backup, McCarron never figured to see the field this season, healthy or not. Dalton's contract extension, while obviously not a positive development for McCarron's dynasty prospects, doesn't really commit the Bengals to their starting quarterback beyond 2015-16.
Sat. Aug 30, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Wilder has been waived by the Bengals.
Impact: Wilder could resurface on the Bengals' practice squad, should he go unclaimed on waivers.
Sat. Aug 30, 2014 | STATS
News: Harrison announced his retirement on Saturday, saying the urge to squeeze in one more season no longer competes with the need to stay at home.
Impact: The 36-year-old was a free agent after spending the 2013 season with the Cincinnati Bengals. He visited the Arizona Cardinals earlier in the week but did not sign a contract. He called the decision "a difficult one" but insisted he has no regrets.
Sat. Aug 30, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Wright beat out Cobi Hamilton for the fifth and final wide receiver spot on the Bengals' roster, The Cincinnati Enquirer's Paul Dehner Jr. reports.
Impact: The report notes that Wright could still be released, as the Bengals may prefer their pick of other teams' unwanted players over their in-house fifth receiver. With Marvin Jones (foot) expected to return at some point before mid-season, Wright could eventually land on the practice squad, even if he sticks on the roster for the next few weeks. His role on offense will likely be minimal to non-existent, but he could contribute on special teams.
Sat. Aug 30, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Hamilton has been released by the Bengals, The Cincinnati Enquirer's Paul Dehner Jr. reports.
Impact: Despite a strong showing in the final preseason game, Hamilton lost out to James Wright for the right to serve as Cincy's No. 5 wide receiver. Hamilton probably won't find a better chance to make a roster than the one he had with a Bengals team lacking depth at wide receiver.
Fri. Aug 29, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Wilson has been waived by the Bengals, foxsports.com reports.
Impact: Wilson, who was unable to overtake Jason Campbell and AJ McCarron in the Cincinnati QB mix, will now look for a depth assignment elsewhere.
Fri. Aug 29, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Hill's teammate, BenJarvus Green-Ellis, has been released by the Bengals, the team's official site reports.
Impact: When the Bengals drafted Hill in May, it was presumed that Green-Ellis could be on his way out. Now that the scenario has transpired, Hill's role as a bruising complement to starter Giovani Bernard appears to have been solidified. Hill finished up the preseason on a high note, carrying 20 times for 90 yards and catching six passes for 70 yards in Thursday's win over the Colts. With Green-Ellis no longer a threat to absorb short-yardage duty in the Bengals' offense, Hill is a candidate to see work in such situations, while working in tandem with Bernard.
Fri. Aug 29, 2014 | STATS
News: Harrison met with the Arizona Cardinals on Friday but won't sign with the team because the two sides couldn't agree on a contract.
Impact: Harrison's agent, William Parise, said Harrison had a physical and met with coach Bruce Arians but the prospective deal broke down over money. The 36-year-old Harrison played last year with Cincinnati, starting in 10 games and getting two sacks.
Fri. Aug 29, 2014 | STATS
News: The Bengals released Green-Ellis on Friday, a move that was anticipated after they drafted LSU's Jeremy Hill in the second round.
Impact: Green-Ellis was Cincinnati's leading rusher each of the last two seasons. His role was reduced last year when Giovani Bernard was added to the backfield. Green-Ellis ran for 756 yards and a career-low 3.4 yards per carry. He was entering the final year on his contract.
Fri. Aug 29, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Burkhead (knee) is not expected to see action in the first month of the coming NFL season, the Bengals' official site reports.
Impact: Upon his return, Burkhead will presumably have a chance to carve out a depth role behind Giovanni Bernard and Jeremy Hill, with BenJarvus Green-Ellis no longer in the team's running back mix.
Fri. Aug 29, 2014 | RotoWire
News: The Bengals have released Green-Ellis (hip), the team's official site reports.
Impact: The move was largely predictable, after the Bengals drafted fellow running back Jeremy Hill in May's NFL draft. Green-Ellis, who has been dealing with hip pointer, figures to catch on elsewhere assuming his health and depending on where he lands, it's conceivable that he can reclaim some fantasy utility in deeper formats, especially in the event that he finds himself in his new team's short-yardage mix.
Fri. Aug 29, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Hunt had three sacks in the Bengals' preseason finale against the Colts on Thursday.
Impact: Hunt, a second-round pick last year for the Bengals, didn't see much playing time last year, but he'll be rotated into the lineup more often this year with Michael Johnson gone.
Fri. Aug 29, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Campbell played the entire first half of the Bengals' preseason finale, going 13-for-16 for 123 yards against the Colts' backups.
Impact: Campbell suffered an elbow injury earlier in the preseason, so while the results don't really matter all that much, it's clear he's healthy and ready to be Andy Dalton's backup for the start of the season.
Fri. Aug 29, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Hill, who briefly left Thursday's preseason finale with an elbow injury but later returned, ended up carrying 20 times for 90 yards and caught six passes for 70 yards.
Impact: Hill got so much extensive work because the Bengals were resting Giovani Bernard, and fellow running backs BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Cedric Peerman and Rex Burkhead were all out with injuries.
Thu. Aug 28, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Hamilton caught three passes for 74 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's preseason finale against the Colts.
Impact: Assuming he makes the team, Hamilton could perhaps see a few early-season snaps on offense, with the Bengals entering the year sans Marvin Jones (foot). However, Dane Sanzenbacher and Brandon Tate are the better candidates for reserve wideout snaps, while Tyler Eifert and Mohamed Sanu are the players most likely to benefit from added targets.
Thu. Aug 28, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Sanzenbacher (concussion) returned a punt 77 yards for a touchdown in Thursday's preseason finale against the Colts.
Impact: While he didn't catch any of his three targets, Sanzenbacher did plenty to prove his health. With Marvin Jones (foot) out for at least the first few weeks of the season, Sanzenbacher -- along with Brandon Tate and perhaps James Wright or Cobi Hamilton -- is in the mix for snaps behind A.J. Green and Mohamed Sanu. The Bengals probably won't use too many three-wide sets, as they can instead opt to split out TE Tyler Eifert or RB Giovani Bernard.
Thu. Aug 28, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Hill (elbow) returned to Thursday's preseason finale against the Colts.
Impact: Hill's elbow issue was clearly a minor one and he's seeing plenty of action in the team's preseason finale. It remains to be seen how much work Hill is in line to see out of the gate, with BenJarvus Green-Ellis still rostered by the Bengals, but the rookie back carries upside in TD-heavy formats, given that he's expected to emerge as a power complement to top back Giovani Bernard as the season rolls along.
Thu. Aug 28, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Hill is questionable to return to Thursday's game due to a right elbow injury, Paul Dehner of the Cinncinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact: Hill had received consistent work prior to exiting, carrying the ball 15 times for 60 yards, and catching all five of his targets for 63 total yards through the air. Giovani Bernard remains atop the Bengals' RB depth chart, but the rookie second-rounder remains an intriguing sleeper in 2014. His status should be updated by the team in the near future, but the ailment doesn't appear to be overly serious at this time.
Thu. Aug 28, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Burfict (hamstring) probably won't play in Thursday's preseason finale. He also finalized his contract extension Wednesday, signing a four-year, $20 million deal.
Impact: Burfict is still expected to play in Week 1 against the Ravens. That they went ahead and finalized the deal Wednesday might also point to their optimism about the injury.
Wed. Aug 27, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Eifert (shoulder) likely will miss Thursday's preseason finale.
Impact: However, the Bengals fully expect him to be ready for the season opener against the Ravens.
Mon. Aug 25, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Nugent's teammate, Quinn Sharp, was released by the Bengals on Monday, the The Sports Xchange reports.
Impact: The report notes that Sharp served as "a camp leg" to keep Nugent from being overworked during the preseason, as opposed to actually competing for the team's kicking assignment. In any case, in advance of Week 1, a presumably healthy Nugent is the only kicker the Bengals currently roster.
Aug 24, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Green-Ellis (hip) did not play in Sunday's preseason game at Arizona.
Impact: Cincinnati is high on power rookie Jeremy Hill, who had 12 carries for 48 yards Sunday. If Green-Ellis' hip injury continues to linger, it might give the Bengals incentive to cut him. That hasn't been discussed much though, so it's purely speculation at this point. Whether Green-Ellis makes the roster or not is somewhat irrelevant, as his role appears to be severely diminished.
Aug 24, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Hill had 12 carries for 48 yards and made two catches on five targets for 10 yards in Sunday's preseason game at Arizona.
Impact: Hill saw his first action in the second quarter, after Giovani Bernard got five carries in the opening period. Bernard finished with 10 carries for 17 yards, so Hill was more effective on a per-play basis, although a majority of Hill's carries came against backups. Hill isn't expected to get as much work as Bernard once the regular season starts, but the rookie bruiser could end up being Cincinnati's goal line back, as BenJarvus Green-Ellis seems to be getting phased out of the offense.
Aug 24, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Gresham had one catch for 33 yards in Sunday's preseason game at Arizona. He was targeted twice.
Impact: Fellow tight end Tyler Eifert did not play due to his lingering shoulder injury, and Gresham was able to make once nice play. Gresham had been dealing with a hernia issue earlier in the preseason, but considering he's played the last two weeks, he appears to be OK moving forward. The bigger concern for Gresham is the presence of Eifert, who is considered by most to be the superior player.
Aug 24, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Eifert (shoulder) did not play in Sunday's preseason game at Arizona.
Impact: It would have been nice to see Eifert play, after he missed last week's preseason game against the Jets with his shoulder injury. On the flip side, there is no reason to rush Eifert back, if he still needs time to heal, which appears to be the case. Assuming Eifert is ready to go once the regular season kicks off, expect him to outproduce fellow tight end Jermaine Gresham, who has not lived up to his potential as a former first-round pick.
Aug 24, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Bernard had 10 carries for 17 yards and caught a couple of passes for one yard in Sunday's preseason game at Arizona.
Impact: Bernard had trouble finding room to run, averaging under two yards per carry. Meanwhile, rookie Jeremy Hill fared much better, rushing for 48 yards on 12 carries, although most of his work came against backups. It's been a quiet preseason for Bernard, although he's fully expected to shoulder most of the load once the regular season begins, and when you factor in his receiving abilities, he has the potential to be a breakout player in 2014. On a down note, it remains to be seen how much Bernard will be used around the goal line, with Hill and possibly BenJarvus Green-Ellis around.
Aug 24, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Dalton completed 13-of-21 pass attempts for 157 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions in Sunday's preseason game at Arizona.
Impact: The fourth-year quarterback played the entire first half, and even though he didn't lead Cincinnati to any offensive touchdowns, he looked relatively sharp, completing 62 percent of his pass attempts with a 7.5 YPA. The loss of Marvin Jones for about the first month of the regular season will probably hurt Dalton's numbers a bit, but superstar A.J. Green is still around. New offensive coordinator Hue Jackson is expected to run the ball more this season though, so it could be tough for Dalton to repeat last year's 33-touchdown performance.
Aug 24, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Green caught all five of the passes thrown his way for 53 yards in Sunday's preseason game at Arizona.
Impact: Andy Dalton led Cincinnati to just six points offensively in the first half, but he and Green looked like they were already in mid-season form. With Marvin Jones expected to miss the opening month of the regular season, Green could see a minor increase in targets during the first couple of weeks. Regardless of Jones' status, Green will be heavily targeted by Dalton, however, and should be one of the first couple of wide receivers drafted in most fantasy leagues.
Aug 24, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Burfict suffered a hamstring injury in Sunday's preseason game against the Cardinals and is not expected to return, Paul Dehner Jr. of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact: The extent of Burfict's setback is uncertain, but expect an update on his status as more details become available.
Sat. Aug 23, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Porter could get a big opportunity to play with the first team defense in Sunday night's third preseason game against Arizona.
Impact: Porter, a fourth-round pick in 2013, missed all of last season with a shoulder injury and has been slowed by a sore knee this fall. He could play with the first team if Vontaze Burfict's illness keeps him off the field.
Sat. Aug 23, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Sanzenbacher has been practicing this week, but needs to clear the final step of the concussion protocol before being able to play Sunday night.
Impact: With Marvin Jones out, Sanzenbacher has an opportunity to gain extra snaps, but obviously that can only happen if he is able to get on the field first.
Sat. Aug 23, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Wilson (head) is unlikely to play in Sunday's third preseason game against the Cardinals.
Impact: He hasn't been able to practice this week. He's going to have a difficult time making the team - Jason Campbell is a veteran and likely to hold onto the backup job, and rookie AJ McCarron is the best bet to be the third quarterback.
Sat. Aug 23, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Campbell (elbow) will likely play in Sunday's third preseason game at Arizona, the Bengals' official site reports.
Impact: Campbell sat out last week after injuring the elbow in the first preseason game, but has been working out this week.
Fri. Aug 22, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Green-Ellis missed practice Friday with a hip issue, the Bengals' official site reports.
Impact: At this stage, there is nothing to suggest that Green-Ellis' hip injury is a major concern, but it is something that clouds his availability for Sunday's preseason contest against the Cardinals.
Fri. Aug 22, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Dennard (hip) probably won't play in the Bengals' third preseason game to avoid reinjury.
Impact: Dennard expects to be ready for the season opener, but preseason time will likely be sacrificed to ensure his availability. He should serve as depth at cornerback and also on special teams for the Bengals when he returns to full health.
Fri. Aug 22, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Burfict didn't practice for the third straight day Friday due to a "stomach bug."
Impact: The Bengans have supposedly signed Burfict to a four-year contract, but the team hasn't released the news yet, indicating the deal may not have been finalized. The bug could cause him to miss the team's third preseason game, but it shouldn't effect his availability for the regular season unless it develops into something worse.
Fri. Aug 22, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Atkins is expected to start Sunday night's preseason game against the Cardinals, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact: Atkins was rested during Friday's practice, but it appears as though the stage is set for Atkins -- who is bouncing back from the torn ACL that he suffered last October -- to play in a few series during Sunday's contest.
Fri. Aug 22, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Green-Ellis (unspecified issue) did not practice Friday, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact: At this stage, Green-Ellis' status for Sunday's preseason game against the Cardinals is uncertain, but if he is forced to sit out the contest, Jeremy Hill figures to see added work behind starter Giovani Bernard, with Cedric Peerman and James Wilder representing the team's other current healthy backfield options.
Fri. Aug 22, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Offensive coordinator Hue Jackson indicated that Hill could get some carries with the Bengals' first-team offense in Sunday's preseason game against the Cardinals, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact: In such a scenario, Hill would have an opportunity to run behind the Bengals' projected starting offensive line, with the report also essentially confirming that the rookie back is past the the shoulder issue that he suffered this past Saturday. While Giovani Bernard remains atop the Bengals' RB depth chart, and Benjarvus Green-Ellis remains in the mix, it's not hard to imagine the 6-1, 238-pound Hill carving out a key role in the team's offense out of the gate, particularly in short-yardage situations.
Wed. Aug 20, 2014 | STATS
News: Burfict has signed a three-year contract extension through 2017 that will pay him a maximum of $20.05 million. Burfict agreed to the deal last week. He was entering the final year on his deal. Under his extension, he'll make $10 million through next summer in salary and bonuses.
Impact: Burfict is making $570,000 in the final year of his original deal with Cincinnati, which took a minimal risk and signed him as an undrafted free agent from Arizona State in 2012.
Wed. Aug 20, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Burfict signed a four-year, $20 million extension with the Bengals on Wednesday, ESPN reports.
Impact: Burfict went undrafted out of Arizona State in 2012, but signed with the Bengals as a free agent and has paid huge dividends for the team ever since. In fact, Burfict led the NFL with 171 tackles (114 solo) last season, which brought his two-year total to a whopping 298 stops. Additionally, Cincinnati's starting weakside linebacker added three sacks, two fumble recoveries, and one interception last season. As such, Burfict played his way to a much deserved pay raise that will see him earn $7.6 million this year. Entering his third season, Burfict is firmly entrenched as one of fantasy football's premier IDP options.
Wed. Aug 20, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Atkins' (knee) status for Sunday's third preseason game is yet to be determined, although he is fully expected to play in the Bengals' regular season opener Sept. 7 versus the Ravens.
Impact: Atkins is yet to play since tearing his ACL last October, but the defensive tackle has been practicing, albeit in an unknown capacity beyond individual drills, since coming off Cincinnati's PUP list July 30. As one of the league's elite defensive linemen, Atkins' return has been handled carefully to ensure he's ready to go once the results matter. However, it could be worthwhile for Atkins to gain game experience during the preseason, so he might be involved in the Bengals' third preseason contest Sunday. Expect his status to be updated as the week unfolds.
Wed. Aug 20, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Dennard (hip) fully expects to be ready for the Bengals' regular season opener, The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact: Dennard suffered a minor hip injury during last weekend's preseason outing versus the Jets, but is hardly concerned about missing time because of it. The rookie first-rounder has drawn rave reviews out of Bengals camp and should see immediate playing time in the team's cornerback rotation.
Tue. Aug 19, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Eifert (shoulder) is currently listed as day-to-day, Cincinnati.com reports.
Impact: Eifert injured his shoulder during OTAs and aggravated the ailment a bit at practice last week. In light of that occurrence, the tight end sat out Saturday's second preseason game against the Jets. At the moment, Eifert is waiting for clearance from the Bengals' medical staff to return to action, which should come fairly soon.
Mon. Aug 18, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Campbell (elbow) is going to try to throw this week, since the swelling in his elbow has slightly subsided, the Bengals' official website reports.
Impact: Campbell admitted that he couldn't have played last Saturday, even if the Bengals had been scheduled for a regular season game. The veteran quarterback's elbow has been swollen in recent days, so team doctors are waiting for that to improve before taking the next step in his return. On that note, he reportedly felt better Monday, so some throwing exercises could occur later this week. In any event, Campbell figures to keep Cincinnati's backup position whenever he returns.
Mon. Aug 18, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Hill, who left Saturday's preseason game against the Jets with a shoulder injury, suited up for Monday's practice, Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com reports.
Impact: While it's unclear if the rookie back's shoulder issue will limit him during Monday's workout, Hill's presence in uniform does seem to suggest that his injury is minor.
