News: Lewis-Harris was suspended for two games Wednesday for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.
Impact: Lewis-Harris can participate in preseason games and practices. He'll miss the first two games without pay and can return to the active roster on Monday, Sept. 15.

News: The Bengals cleared Atkins to rejoin practice on Wednesday, completing his comeback from a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
Impact: Atkins hurt his knee during a game Oct. 31 at Miami and had hoped to be ready for the start of training camp last Thursday, but coach Marvin Lewis wanted to be cautious. Atkins was limited to drills on a side field for the first week. Atkins was a 2012 All-Pro and a two-time Pro Bowl selection. He had 12 1-2 sacks in 2012, the most by an NFL interior lineman, and led the team with six sacks when he was hurt last season.

News: Sanu has been getting more snaps with the first team in training camp with Marvin Jones out and has impressed, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact: Naturally we should be wary of any "looking good" updates in training camp before the hitting has begun in earnest, but at least this is better than getting negative reports about his health or his performance.

News: Jones (ankle) hasn't yet started practicing, but has been working out on the side and has looked good there, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact: After a breakout 2013 season, Jones is the clear No. 2 wide receiver with the Bengals and could get more receptions and yards this year, though it's hard to envision him being as efficient in the red zone as he was last year, scoring 10 times in just 13 red zone targets.

News: Whitworth (calf) hasn't yet practiced and is taking it slow in his return from a conditioning injury, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact: Whitworth missed the entire preseason last year and was able to return by Week 2 with a more significant knee injury. For now, the Bengals are downplaying this injury.

News: Atkins has been activated from the PUP list in advance of Wednesday's practice, the Bengals' official site reports.
Impact: Expect Atkins, who is bouncing back from an ACL tear that he sustained on Oct. 31 last year, to be worked back in gradually, in both practice and in preseason action, with an eye toward preparing him for the Bengals' regular season opener on Sept. 7. Prior to suffering his season-ending injury last season, Atkins had recorded 20 tackles and six sacks in nine games. When healthy, he's a key cog in the Bengals' team D and a serviceable IDP out of the DL slot as well.

News: The shoulder injury that hampered Eifert this spring has fully healed, ESPN.com reports.
Impact: With fellow TE Jermaine Gresham dealing with a back injury, Eifert is in line to see added training camp reps and he's off to a good start, with the report noting that the 2013 first-rounder caught a few "attention-grabbing receptions" Thursday.

News: Hall was cleared to join the Bengals' first practice of training camp on Thursday, an encouraging sign for one of the NFL's top defenses.
Impact: Hall tore his right Achilles tendon midway through last season, the second time he's sustained such an injury. He tore his left Achilles in 2011, but was back as the starter the following year. The 29-year-old cornerback says he'll be rusty in pass coverage, so that's the main thing he's working on early in camp.

News: Gresham (hernia) will begin training camp on the PUP list, the Bengals' official website reports.
Impact: Gresham was kept from participating in Cincinnati's offseason activities while recovering from hernia surgery and will now be sidelined for the opening portion of training camp as well. Following the Bengals' first-round selection of Tyler Eifert (shoulder) last year, Gresham, a two-time Pro-Bowler, recorded career-lows in targets (66), receptions (46), and yards (458), while Eifert saw more red zone targets. While both Gresham and Eifert figure to share playing time in regular two-down sets, their respective fantasy values appear to be trending in opposite directions.

News: The Bengals expect cornerback Leon Hall to be ready for the start of training camp and defensive tackle Geno Atkins to join them for full workouts sometime later.
Impact: Hall and Atkins are their two biggest questions heading into camp. Both are starters who mean a lot to a defense that ranked third in the NFL last season. Atkins tore a knee ligament Oct. 31. Coach Marvin Lewis says Atkins won't be cleared to practice at the outset, but he expects him to be back sometime during camp.

News: Hall (Achilles), despite currently being listed on the Bengals' PUP list, is expected by coach Marvin Lewis to practice when training camp begins Thursday, the Bengals' official website reports.
Impact: Hall suffered his second ruptured Achilles during Week 7 last season, but reportedly enjoyed a more successful rehab period this time around. Considering he has missed 20 contests over the past three seasons, it wouldn't be surprising if he's allowed a lighter workload in the early practice stages, but it's encouraging that the veteran has recovered from another gruesome injury in time for camp.

News: Atkins (knee) will remain on the Bengals' PUP list and sit a few days before taking the field during training camp, the team's official website reports.
Impact: Atkins is recovering from the torn ACL he suffered in October. Although Atkins is pushing to be allowed to practice from Day 1, coach Marvin Lewis is expected to exercise caution and hold his defensive stud out for the first few days of camp. Nonetheless, it's appears fairly certain that he will be good to go by the time Week 1 of the regular season kicks off. When he returns, Atkins represents one of the league's premier defensive forces and an elite sack option among IDP interior linemen.

News: McCarron has been placed on the non-football injury list with a shoulder injury, Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact: There's no indication that McCarron's injury is serious, and he isn't even expected to see action in 2014. With Andy Dalton starting and Jason Campbell the likely No. 2, McCarron will probably devote his rookie season to watching and learning.

News: Jones has been placed on the non-football injury list with an ankle injury, Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact: There's no indication that Jones' injury is serious, and he wasn't placed on the physically unable to perform list. He's likely just dealing with a minor ailment acquired in the offseason, but it will be worth keeping an eye on if he's limited during training camp. In the wake of last season's 51-712-10 receiving line, Jones is the best bet for targets among Cincinnati wide receivers, with the obvious exception of A.J. Green. However, the Bengals have a lot of mouths to feed and typically favor a balanced offensive approach.

News: Atkins was among nine players placed on the physically unable to perform list Monday by the Cincinnati Bengals.
Impact: Atkins missed seven games and the Bengals' one playoff game last season after undergoing surgery on his right knee. He was injured on Oct. 31 at Miami and was not expected to be ready for the start of training camp.

Impact: Hall tore his right Achilles tendon on Oct. 20. It was his second such injury in three years.

News: Hall (Achilles) will open camp on the PUP list, the Baltimore Sun reports.
Impact: Hall, who ruptured his Achilles tendon in October, hoped to be ready for the start of training camp, though it appears that won't be the case. He's without a definite timetable, but chances are he'll be back in the fold within a couple weeks.

News: Atkins (knee) will open camp on the PUP list, the Baltimore Sun reports.
Impact: Atkins tore his right ACL in October and continues to work back to full strength. He's without a target return date, but it seems unlikely he'll be ready for Week 1.
