News: Eifert (shoulder) is currently listed as day-to-day, Cincinnati.com reports.
Impact: Eifert injured his shoulder during OTAs and aggravated the ailment a bit at practice last week. In light of that occurrence, the tight end sat out Saturday's second preseason game against the Jets. At the moment, Eifert is waiting for clearance from the Bengals' medical staff to return to action, which should come fairly soon.

News: Campbell (elbow) is going to try to throw this week, since the swelling in his elbow has slightly subsided, the Bengals' official website reports.
Impact: Campbell admitted that he couldn't have played last Saturday, even if the Bengals had been scheduled for a regular season game. The veteran quarterback's elbow has been swollen in recent days, so team doctors are waiting for that to improve before taking the next step in his return. On that note, he reportedly felt better Monday, so some throwing exercises could occur later this week. In any event, Campbell figures to keep Cincinnati's backup position whenever he returns.

News: Hill, who left Saturday's preseason game against the Jets with a shoulder injury, suited up for Monday's practice, Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com reports.
Impact: While it's unclear if the rookie back's shoulder issue will limit him during Monday's workout, Hill's presence in uniform does seem to suggest that his injury is minor.

News: Bernard scored a one-yard rushing touchdown in Saturday's preseason game against the Jets.
Impact: Bernard gained four yards from the Jets' five-yard line, and then finished things off on the next play. While Benjarvus Green-Ellis got most of the goal-line and short-yardage work last season, Bernard was sometimes used from in close. It may be that Bernard will get a higher percentage of the goal-line carries this year, but both BJGE and rookie Jeremy Hill loom as threats to handle some of the early-down and goal-line workload.

News: Burkhead's knee injury appears to be a season-ending one.
Impact: Burkhead makes most of his impact on special teams when he is active, but this is a pretty tough blow for the second-year player out of Nebraska.
Aug 17, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Campbell sat out Saturday's preseason game against the Jets with a bruised elbow.
Impact: With Campbell out, the Bengals' reserves were led by Matt Scott and Tyler Wilson, who both predictably struggled. Assuming he's healthy for the start of the season, Campbell's backup job isn't in jeopardy.
Aug 17, 2014 | RotoWire
News: With Jason Campbell nursing a bruised elbow, Scott and Tyler Wilson handled the backup quarterback duties in Saturday's preseason game and struggled against the Jets, with Scott losing a fumble, while getting blitzed from the blind side in his first series.
Impact: Scott had the misfortune of facing the Jets' first-team defense, while being protected by the Bengals' second-team offensive line. The starters have looked good for the Bengals this preseason, but the backups have not.
Sat. Aug 16, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Burkhead suffered a knee injury in Saturday's preseason contest against the Jets, ESPN.com reports.
Impact: Giovanni Bernard, Jeremy Hill and BenJarvus Green-Ellis are all ahead of Burkhead in the Bengals' RB pecking order, so this nugget is of more import to the team's depth at the position than it is to fantasy owners at this stage.
Sat. Aug 16, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Dennard suffered a hip injury Saturday against the Jets, the Bengals' official site reports.
Impact: Assuming his injury is nothing major, the 2014 first-rounder figures to carve out a key role in the Bengals' secondary as the season progresses. For now though, the team's unofficial depth chart lists Dennard in the No. 3 right cornerback slot.
Sat. Aug 16, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Tate may be in line for an expanded role with Marvin Jones (broken foot) expected to miss at least the first few weeks of the season, ESPN.com reports.
Impact: Mohamed Sanu will step in as the No. 2 wide receiver, leaving the Bengals without a proven option for the No. 3 spot. While Tate, Dane Sanzenbacher and James Wright are all candidates to see more snaps than previously expected, none of the three figures to be a huge part of the offense. In all likelihood, the Bengals will hope that the likes of Sanu and TE Tyler Eifert can hold them over until Jones returns.
Sat. Aug 16, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Sanu caught two passes for 56 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's preseason game against the Jets.
Impact: Sanu capped off the Bengals' opening drive with a 43-yard touchdown on a perfectly thrown deep post from the hand of Andy Dalton. Previously expected to work as Cincy's No. 3 wide receiver, Sanu is now slated to start across from A.J. Green, after Marvin Jones suffered a broken foot. Though he'll see more snaps as a result of Jones' injury, Sanu will likely spend less time working out of the slot. The Bengals hope to have Jones back after their Week 4 bye.
Sat. Aug 16, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Though he worked ahead of Jeremy Hill (shoulder) in Saturday's preseason game against the Jets, Green-Ellis finished his night with just three yards on one carry.
Impact: Hill served as the No. 2 running back in Cincy's preseason opener, but Green-Ellis was first into the game after Giovani Benard on Saturday. Hill, who left Saturday's game with a shoulder injury, seems to have had all the momentum until Saturday, even though Green-Ellis is listed second on the depth chart. While the situation remains worth watching, Hill is the better bet if you're on the clock right now.
Sat. Aug 16, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Hill left Saturday's preseason game against the Jets with a shoulder injury, ESPN's Coley Harvey reports.
Impact: Hill won't return, though that part doesn't carry much meaning in the preseason. He somewhat surprisingly worked behind Benjarvus Green-Ellis in Saturday's game, after the reverse was true in Cincy's preseason opener. While the development is worth keeping a close eye on, Hill should still be viewed as the more valuable commodity. Green-Ellis logged just one rush for three yards, while Hill finished his night with 16 yards on three carries.
Sat. Aug 16, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Eifert (shoulder) won't play in Saturday's game against the Jets, cincinnati.com reports.
Impact: While Eifert took a seat Saturday, fellow tight end Jermaine Gresham was able to make his first game appearance of the preseason. Consider Eifert, who missed some practice time this past week, day-to-day.
Wed. Aug 13, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Eifert sat out Wednesday's practice with a sore shoulder, Cincinnati.com reports.
Impact: Eifert injured his shoulder during the spring and was previously reported to be fully healed, but it appears there is some lingering soreness that has resurfaced in the closing days of training camp. As a precaution, Eifert sat out Wednesday's session ahead of Saturday's next preseason game. It's unclear if Eifert will suit up for that outing, but with pass-catcher Marvin Jones (foot) slated for a lengthy sideline spell, Eifert should benefit from added targets in the early going this season.
Wed. Aug 13, 2014 | RotoWire
News: With Marvin Jones out with a broken foot, Mohamed Sanu will move from the slot to the outside, creating the opportunity for Sanzenbacher to win the third receiver's job, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact: Sanzenbacher had just six receptions last season, but Jones is out and Andrew Hawkins is in Cleveland. Sanzenbacher will have to beat out Brandon Tate and Ryan Whalen for the job, if the Bengals even use wideouts for the role. They could also spread out either Tyler Eifert or Jermaine Gresham in the slot, or even running back Giovani Bernard.
Wed. Aug 13, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Because Marvin Jones is out with a broken foot, Sanu will get more snaps, but he'll also have to move from the slot to the outside, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact: Sanu has drawn raves in camp for how he's looked so far, but this moves him away from his strength and puts him up against better defenders. So while his overall value probably goes up as a result of Jones's injury, it might not be by as much as one would expect.
Mon. Aug 11, 2014 | RotoWire
News: The Bengals hope that Jones (foot) will be ready to play following their Week 4 bye, NFL Network's Albert Breer reports.
Impact: Jones was diagnosed with a broken foot Monday afternoon, which is expected to keep him out for several weeks. There was a previous risk of him beginning the 2014 season on the PUP list, but this report suggests that the Bengals don't plan on going that route. This is actually good news for owners who drafted Jones, as a PUP tag would mean a mandatory absence for the team's first six games. He'll now target a return on Oct. 5 against New England, but that will depend largely on the recovery of his surgically-repaired foot. Mohamed Sanu should see additional reps in the absence of Jones, while tight ends Jermaine Gresham and Tyler Eifert may also see extra balls thrown their way when top wideout A.J. Green is buried in coverage.
Mon. Aug 11, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Jones suffered a broken foot and will now miss a "few weeks," The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact: Jones came off the Bengals' PUP list last week after dealing with an ankle issue during the early portion of training camp. Now, the third-year wideout will probably miss the whole preseason with a broken foot and a pin inserted in his fifth metatarsal. While Jones could land on Cincinnati's PUP list and miss the team's first six games, the Bengals' exact course of action is undetermined at this time. Nonetheless, an absence of a "few weeks" creates an opportunity for Mohamed Sanu to work with the starters opposite A.J. Green.

News: Campbell injured the shoulder on his throwing arm during Thursday's preseason defeat at the hands of the Chiefs, the Bengals' official site reports.
Impact: Test results haven't revealed the severity of the injury, but Campbell's status for the Bengals' upcoming preseason tilt next Saturday against the Jets is in flux. As a result, with two of the Bengals' four signal callers now injured -- also, rookie AJ McCarron (shoulder) -- the team added Tyler Wilson on Saturday to shore up their bases. When the QB corps is healthy, though, Campbell, the veteran, is the clear backup to Andy Dalton.
Thu. Aug 7, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Dalton has been working hard on his release point to get fewer balls knocked down at the line of scrimmage, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact: Dalton isn't necessarily short (6-2, in fact), but that has been a problem for him nonetheless.
Thu. Aug 7, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Bernard gained 10 yards on three carries and nine yards on one reception in Thursday's preseason opener against the Chiefs.
Impact: After registering 226 touches (170 carries, 56 receptions) in 16 games as a rookie, Bernard will likely see more of the ball this season. However, he still figures to lose some of the early-down work and goal-line carries to either Jeremy Hill or Benjarvus Green-Ellis, with Hill looking like the favorite. The Bengals still have A.J. Green and an excellent offensive line, so Bernard should have ample room to work with when he gets the ball in his hands.
Thu. Aug 7, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Green caught both of his targets for 62 yards in Thursday's preseason opener against the Chiefs.
Impact: The Dalton-to-Green connection started with a nine-yard gain on the offense's first play, and the two later hooked up on a 53-yard strike down the middle of the field. With everything seemingly in order, the Bengals' offensive starters played just one series.
Thu. Aug 7, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Green-Ellis gained 19 yards on four carries in Thursday's preseason opener against the Chiefs.
Impact: Hype is building around second-round rookie Jeremy Hill, who entered Thursday's game before Green-Ellis, and then gained 36 yards on six carries. While it probably isn't fair to bury the Law Firm entirely, he's seemingly No. 2 on the depth chart in name only.
Thu. Aug 7, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Hill entered Thursday's preseason opener against the Chiefs before fellow running back Benjarvus Green-Ellis, and the rookie out of LSU finished his night with 36 yards on six carries.
Impact: Hill played well in his first taste of the NFL, as every sign points to him supplanting the Law Firm as Giovani Bernard's partner in crime. Hill will likely get most of the short-yardage work, but Bernard is an easy favorite to lead the Bengals in touches. That said, nobody expects Bernard to tote the rock 300 times, so there should be a good number of carries left for Hill.
Thu. Aug 7, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Jones won't play in Thursday's preseason opener against the Chiefs, the Bengals' official site reports.
Impact: Jones, who had been dealing with an ankle issue, came off the PUP list earlier this week, but evidently he didn't get enough work in to play Thursday. He's currently listed by the Bengals as a starting wideout opposite A.J. Green.
Thu. Aug 7, 2014 | RotoWire
News: McCarron (shoulder) is throwing 55-to-65 yards as part of his routine after practices.
Impact: McCarron isn't going to challenge Andy Dalton anytime soon, but he's missing an opportunity to position himself for the backup job this preseason.
Thu. Aug 7, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Gresham (back/hernia) will be held out of the Bengals' preseason opener Thursday.
Impact: Gresham just came off the PUP list on Monday, so this makes sense. Gresham's blocking ability will keep him on the field when he's healthy, but he's going to continue to lose targets to Tyler Eifert this year.
Thu. Aug 7, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Whitworth (calf) won't play Thursday in the Bengals' preseason opener.
Impact: Whitworth just came off the the PUP list and started practicing, so it makes sense that the Bengals wouldn't throw him into the mix yet.
Thu. Aug 7, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Green-Ellis is officially listed as the Bengals' #2 running back on their initial depth chart heading into their first preseason game.
Impact: This might be more of a nod towards veteran priority than a reflection of the Bengals' in-season intentions. This sort of news, at this time of training camp, won't move the needle in our rankings or projections.
Wed. Aug 6, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Wilson was released by the Titans on Wednesday, the Tennessean reports.
Impact: With Wilson no longer in the mix, Zach Mettenberger is now in line to take third-string QB reps behind starter Jake Locker and top backup Charlie Whitehurst.
Mon. Aug 4, 2014 | STATS
News: The Cincinnati Bengals are making Dalton one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the league. Dalton signed a six-year extension on Monday. According to multiple reports, the deal is worth up to $115 million and will prevent Dalton playing out the final year of his rookie contract.
Impact: Dalton has passed for more than 3,000 yards in each of his three seasons. He led the Bengals to an 11-5 record and AFC North title in 2013. He set career highs with 33 touchdown passes and 20 interceptions. Despite his regular-season success, Dalton has been criticized for throwing six interceptions with only one touchdown in three postseason losses.

News: Lewis-Harris was suspended for two games Wednesday for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.
Impact: Lewis-Harris can participate in preseason games and practices. He'll miss the first two games without pay and can return to the active roster on Monday, Sept. 15.
