Will Russell Wilson Play in Week 4 Against the New York Jets?

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson suffered a strained MCL against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 3. Will he play against the New York Jets?

The knee injury to Russell Wilson of the Seattle Seahawks is certainly a big concern heading into Week 4. However, for the New York Jets, it could result in a huge advantage.

In recent years, Wilson has emerged as one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. As arguably the best-running quarterback in the NFL, Wilson is a matchup nightmare. Frequently, Wilson is at his best when a play breaks down and he has to improvise. This can be a huge challenge, even for a talented Jets defense.

On Wednesday, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll commented on the status of his star quarterback.

“As long as he makes it through our days here, he’ll go,” Carroll said to Darryl Slater of NJ.com. “Russell did a nice job of working through it [during practice], and he looked good.

“We always look at the day after, to see how he comes back. Does he bounce back well? I think we’ve watched him for a couple weeks handle what’s he’s dealing with, and he’s done a very good job. I don’t see any reason to think otherwise.”

As of now, it appears that Wilson will be playing unless there is some sort of setback. Furthermore, the next question will become how limited he will be on the field. The strained MCL can certainly limit the mobility of Wilson in Week 4. Due to the Seahawks have a mediocre offensive line, the Jets might be able to get a lot of pressure on him this Sunday.

Finally, after a tough loss in Kansas City, the Jets will not be handed a win by the Seahawks. All signs point to Wilson playing, and that makes this a very difficult game for the Jets.
