It’s been awhile since the Lions found the win column on Turkey Day -- 10 years.

When the Lions handled the Packers with relative ease in a 40-10 decisive win Thursday, they treated their fans to a feast of production and the team’s first Thanksgiving triumph since 2003.

It has been a decade mixed with highs and lows for the franchise, but they finally are atop the NFC North and can feast on some fixings with a clear conscience. Let’s take a look back at what was popular in 2003:

World Series champions: Florida Marlins

Super Bowl XXXVII champions: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

NBA champions: San Antonio Spurs

Stanley Cup champs: New Jersey Devils

NCAA Football champs: LSU Tigers and USC Trojans

NCAA basketball champs: Syracuse

No. 1 pick in 2003 Draft: Carson Palmer

Lions head coach: Steve Mariucci

Packers head coach: Mike Sherman

Lions’ first-round pick in 2003: Charles Rogers

Average price of gas: 1.83 per gallon

Quote of the year: "Where do buffalo wings come from? Chickens or buffaloes?" -Jessica Simpson, on her Newlyweds reality show.

For years there has always been discussion on why the Lions play on the holiday and that it should be a reward to play on a national stage. Well, they certainly deserved the honor this season.
