Shanahan sticking with Grossman at QB

Published Nov. 14, 2011 12:00 a.m. ET

Rex Grossman will remain the starting quarterback for the Washington Redskins.

Coach Mike Shanahan said Monday that Grossman will get the call again over John Beck for this week's game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Grossman was the surprise starter in Sunday's 20-9 loss to Miami, but it didn't stop Washington's losing streak.

Grossman threw two interceptions and the offense failed to score a touchdown in a 20-9 defeat. The Redskins fell to 3-6 and have lost five straight.

Grossman started the first five games and then was benched for Beck, who went 0-3 as a starter. Shanahan indicated that Beck played himself out of the job and that the coach might have switched back to Grossman sooner had Grossman not come down with pneumonia.
