DeSean Jackson expects to play against the Eagles
Washington Redskins receiver DeSean Jackson says he expects to play Sunday in his much-anticipated return to Philadelphia.
Jackson has a Grade 1 sprain of the AC joint in his left shoulder from the Redskins' win over Jacksonville, but he said Wednesday that the swelling and soreness have gone down and he's getting back to full strength and full motion in his arm.
Jackson wore a while floppy hat during practice and spent part of the time on a stationary bike. He did not take part in any drills.
Coach Jay Gruden said he doesn't expect Jackson to practice until Friday, but the coach was optimistic that Jackson will play.
''We're not going to put him out there in any circumstance where he's going to be playing in pain because that will take away from his style,'' Gruden said. ''He's a reckless player, a fast player, and if he's not 100 percent he's not worth being out there. But he's a tough kid. I think he'll get it right.''
The three-time Pro Bowl wideout was abruptly cut by the Eagles in late March and signed by the Redskins a few days later.
''I don't plan on missing this game,'' Jackson said.
