Waiting: The Story of DJ Morrell

Updated Mar. 5, 2020 12:45 a.m. ET

After being released from the Buffalo Bills, offensive lineman DJ Morrell returns home to look after his family and train for another shot to play in the NFL.

At 23 years-old, DJ felt on top of the world as an offensive lineman for the Buffalo Bills football team. However, that changed in the blink of an eye when the team brought in Rex Ryan as a new head coach.

Before the 2015 season began, DJ was released.

Feeling like his ‘life’ has come to an end, DJ was forced to make a decision to quit or persevere for himself and his family. He found inspiration from his quadriplegic younger brother, Brian, who he now takes care of when he’s not training.

‘Waiting’ is about DJ and his perseverance for another shot of living out his dream in the NFL. It is the first episode of a digital series on professional athletes fighting for another shot to compete at the highest level.
