Reports: Vikings' Mike Zimmer had fourth eye surgery but could return next week

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer underwent another surgical procedure on his right eye, his fourth operation on the eye in a month, according to multiple reports.

Zimmer’s status for next week’s game against the Jaguars is uncertain. ESPN’s Ben Goessling reports “it appears he could return” for the Jacksonville game, but NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that the Vikings “are planning” to have him back.

The eye issue may prevent Zimmer from being able to fly but the Vikings have a plan in place for him to make the 22-hour drive to Jacksonville, Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio reports

Zimmer missed Thursday’s game against the Cowboys after having emergency surgery on the eye Wednesday night. Minnesota lost the game 17–15 to fall to 6–6 on the season.
