Trent Cole: 'I feel rejuvenated' in Indianapolis
After being let go by the Philadelphia Eagles earlier in the offseason, linebacker Trent Cole is happy to have found a new home in Indianapolis where he can contribute to a team that believes it's prepared to make a run to the Super Bowl.
"I'm here to do what they tell me to do," Cole said, via ESPN's Mike Wells. "I'm glad to be with a team that wants me here, wants my services, and they feel like I can be an impact to this team. That's a great feeling to have, coming to the Colts. We have a lot of talent and a lot of great players here. Just makes you excited for the upcoming season."
The 32-year-old Cole is coming of a 6.5-sack season with Philadelphia. He was released in large part because he was set to be $11.6 million with the Eagles in 2015. Cole signed a two-year $16 million deal with Indianapolis at the start of free agency in March and will help fill in at rush linebacker until Robert Mathis returns from his Achilles injury. Cole, who tallied 85.5 sacks during his 10 seasons in Philadelphia, said he rejects any suggestion that his production is in decline.
"I've always told [reporters], the footage doesn't lie, and you need to go back and look at the footage, and it'll tell you if I'm going downhill," Cole said. "I feel rejuvenated. Getting in the flow with the team and coming out this minicamp, it's been great."
