Touchdowns and points for Eli Manning are in the offing

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

The touchdowns and the points will come for Eli Manning and the New York Giants offense whose record stands even at 2-2.

Eli Manning has thrown 65 touchdowns in the past two seasons. So far in 2016 Manning has just four in four games. He has just one in the past three after throwing three opening day. Last night the Giants scored just ten points against one of the NFL’s best defenses. The Minnesota Vikings have shut down Aaron Rodgers , Cam Newton and now Eli. Last night was no easy task but Manning has a more favorable schedule the rest of the season. Manning criticized his own play last night. According to Jordan Raanan of ESPN on October 4, 2016 , Manning said,

“Didn’t play we’ll enough , didn’t find enough completions , didn’t move the ball well or find enough completions.

Better Days are Ahead for Eli Manning

The Giants will go to Green Bay to play the Packers on SNF and the Giants are going to have to score a lot of points to win the game.

The Packers have the best run defense in football so far but they have struggled against the pass. The first downs reached by passing for the Packers defense is a deplorable 42 in comparison to the team’s offense of 29.

Eli Manning has matched Aaron Rodgers and even out played him in the past. With the run game likely not at its best Eli is going to have to throw multiple touchdowns. Manning has so many good weapons and they will all need to step up Sunday. Manning will have to rely on Odell Beckham, Sterling Shepard and Victor Cruz a lot Sunday.

The Packers Pass Defense has been very weak

The Giants defense is improved but not enough were you think they will shut down Aaron Rodgers especially with the injuries. Despite losing to the Vikings by 14 points this season, the defense last season allowed five touchdowns. Luckily for the Giants the packers have had injuries and poor play in the secondary this season.

Here are three reasons why the Packers defense is prone to allowing Eli to score touchdowns for once. First, in week 1 Blake Bortles had 320 yards and a touchdown. Second, in week 2 Sam Bradford had two touchdowns and 286 yards. Third, in Week 3 Matthew Stafford had 385 yards and 3 touchdowns. This bodes well for Manning. Manning has played the Packers well In the past both on the road and at home. He beat the Packers in two playoff games both in Green Bay.

Eli and Odell need to get on same page

Odell Beckham is fine and so is Eli Manning. Manning hasn’t thrown a touchdown to Beckham yet this season but Beckhams numbers are almost identical through 4 games to last year minus two touchdowns. This week in Minnesota Manning and Beckham we’re not on the same page. It was like watching Jose Calderon shoot to Kristaps Porzingis fail a bullet pass that he could not reel in, or Brian McCann getting crossed up.

According to Will Brinson of CBS Sports on October 4, 2016, Manning said in his post game that Beckham brought this on him self.

Many people may be worried that there is a rift between the players but this is just Eli giving Odell a wake up call. I believe the duo will be back on track this week along with the offense against an overrated Packers defense.
