Torrey Smith criticizes NFL over domestic violence stance

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

Torrey Smith of the San Francisco 49ers took to Twitter to criticize the NFL's handling of domestic violence in light of the news that New York Giants kicker Josh Brown admitted to absuing his ex-wife Molly Brown.

Brown has been placed on the commissioner’s exempt list but will still be paid as the NFL and the Giants look into new police documents from this week. Brown will miss the Giants' upcoming game in London.

Players have also been fined by the league for excessive celebrations, which Smith does not see right given worse actions by others.

Smith is nursing a back injury and may not play in the 49ers game against the Buccaneers on Sunday. Smith has also explained that he respects his teammate Colin Kaepernick's decision to kneel during the national anthem but has elected to do so do.
