The Dallas Cowboys finally have something to smile about since Tony Romo returned and brought the team out of its seven-game losing funk. However, the 10-0 Carolina Panthers are hoping to wipe that smile off Dallas’ face.

Romo spoke on the upcoming Thanksgiving day matchup against the undefeated Panthers, per NFL Media’s Jeff Darlington.

“In the past, we’ve played against a few teams that have been undefeated. We’ll try and look back to some of those times and see what we can do.”

Not only have the Cowboys played against undefeated teams, but Romo added:

“And what I mean is … We’ve beaten a few teams that have been undefeated.”

The 3-7 Cowboys trail the wildly inconsistent Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins by just one game in the NFC East. And, if Dallas can pull off a win against a powerful Cam Newton-led offense and the Panthers’ sixth-ranked defense, the team might actually have a legitimate shot at ascending the division standings.

Last Sunday, Romo made his much-needed return to the field and reportedly delivered a pregame speech about which receiver Dez Bryant said, “I got chills, I’ll tell you that.”

Romo certainly gave the team hope, but it will take some heavy-duty film study for the Cowboys to become the first team to dismantle a near-perfectly ticking Carolina roster.

However, owner Jerry Jones seems to have the utmost faith in his quarterback. Per Darlington, Jones said Romo was the key to the offense’s improvement in the 24-14 win over the Miami Dolphins:

“I think it’s Tony. Yeah. It’s Tony. We needed Tony — and even the threat of Tony.”

We’ll see if Tony can upset the 10-0 Panthers in a few short days.
