The sad story of former Detroit Lions wide receiver Titus Young continues to spiral downward.

According to Riverside County court documents, his son's mother, Marjani Maldonado, filed for a permanent restraining order against him on Thursday, citing a threat of domestic violence. Maldonado, who is Young's ex-girlfriend, first requested a restraining order May 8, three days after Young was arrested twice in one day. A judge granted a temporary restraining order against the receiver that day.

In the filing, The (Riverside, CA) Press-Enterprise reported, Maldonado claims that Young threatened and harassed her at her Moreno Valley home.

"He would say things like, 'I understand why O.J. [Simpson] killed his wife.' He says, 'We're always gonna be a family and I'm always going to be his,'" the filing states, according to The Press-Enterprise. "He got mad and yelled at my neighbors and tried to fight multiple people that he doesn't even know."

The temporary restraining order requires Young to stay at least 100 yards away from his ex-girlfriend at all times, The Press-Enterprise reported. A hearing on the permanent restraining order is set for May 29.

Maldonado, who is the mother of Young's child, Titus Jr., also makes the claim in the filing, like Young's father did after his arrests, that the former NFL player is not mentally well.

"Titus Young Sr. has been clinically diagnosed with a mental disorder, and I am afraid of what he is capable of doing," the restraining order request states. "He also has been in a mental help facility more than once and still believes that he does not have a problem."

The restraining order shines a light on more bizarre behavior on the part of Young, who was arrested three times in the course of a week, including twice in one day.

On May 5, Young was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, and then arrested again the same day for trying to take his car from a tow yard in Moreno Valley.

The 23-year-old was arrested a third time on May 12, for allegedly breaking into a San Clemente home. He was charged with attempted burglary, assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest.

In the court filing, The Press-Enterprise reported, Maldonado claims that Young often would begin inexplicably talking to himself and would go on walks without returning home. She also accuses Young of taking their son to San Diego without telling her, which led her to file a missing persons report.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
