Titans' Zach Brown healthy and motivated

After missing nearly all of last season, Tennessee Titans linebacker Zach Brown is back and ready to make up for lost time.

"I feel good, real good, and I just can't wait to get out there again," Brown said, according to John Glennon of the Tennessean. "Last year, I felt like something was taken from me. So this year, I've got something to prove. Last year was the year I felt like I'd arrived, so now (I'm) back."

Brown suffered a torn pectoral muscle trying to tackle Kansas City running back Knile Davis in the Titans' Week 1 victory over the Chiefs last September. He lasted all of four plays before being lost for the year.

"It was tough because I'd never had a season-ending injury," Brown said. "For me, it was really depressing, to see what our team went through and to feel like I couldn't help them. So for me, the goal was to get stronger, get better, get in shape."

Titans head coach Ken Whisenhunt said he's expecting the former second-round pick out of North Carolina to step right back in the lineup at inside linebacker.

"I think where he helps you is that obviously he's a very good first and second down linebacker or base linebacker," Whisenhunt said, via Glennon. "But when teams go to three-receiver sets and you go into nickel, where you run into problems is having a guy that can run with that slot receiver and yet still play the run — playing big and small. That's one of the things where we were impressed with Zach last year because he's got good speed in space. He also is a physical guy in the line."

He's proven to be productive, as well. Brown had 184 tackles and 9.5 sacks combined in the two years before his injury. If he can return to form, it should provide a boost to the Tennessee defense under new coordinator Dick LeBeau.
