NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Titans defensive lineman Ropati Pitoitua broke his left hand in a win at Atlanta, and coach Ken Whisenhunt says he expects him to be available for the season opener at Kansas City.

Whisenhunt said Sunday that he didn't know how Pitoitua broke his hand, though the lineman played through three quarters with the injury.

Pitoitua broke his right hand in the third preseason game last year, but played 16 games for Tennessee. He had 91 tackles and a career-high four sacks.

Whisenhunt was the offensive coordinator with San Diego last season when the Chargers played the Titans in the third game. Whisenhunt says he remembers thinking Pitoitua surprised him and was playing well.
