Titans DL Karl Klug needs surgery for torn Achilles tendon

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 7:34 p.m. ET

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Tennessee defensive lineman Karl Klug has a torn left Achilles tendon and will have season-ending surgery.

Titans coach Mike Mularkey announced the severity of the injury Monday and said Klug will be placed on injured reserve.

Klug strained his Achilles in Tennessee's 13-10 win over Denver on Dec. 11 but was able to practice late last week. Klug played in the Titans' 19-17 win at Kansas City and further damaged the tendon during the second half.

A fifth-round pick in 2011, Klug has 20 career sacks in 93 career games.

Mularkey says tight end Phillip Supernaw and safety Da'Norris Searcy both are in the concussion protocol. Cornerback Jason McCourty bruised his chest and sprained his shoulder against the Chiefs.
