Texans cut rookie Ivory after arrest

The Houston Texans cut defensive tackle Brandon Ivory on Thursday, a day after the rookie was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree burglary in Alabama.

The decision to part ways with Ivory was first reported by John McClain of the Houston Chronicle.

According to the Chronicle, the 23-year-old Ivory, who signed with the Texans as an undrafted free agent in May, was arrested placed in the Tuscaloosa (Ala.) County Jail on Wednesday pending a $120,000 bond. Also charged was 21-year-old Nicholas Gerald Gibson III of Tuscaloosa. According to police, the two men are alleged to have taken cash and two iPads from the victims.

A statement released by the Tuscaloosa Police Department says, "[t]he victims stated the suspects kicked in the back door and demanded items from the victims. One suspect was armed with an assault rifle and the other suspect was armed with a knife."

Ivory, who played at the University of Alabama, joined the Texans after going undrated. He had 13 tackles during his season season with the Crimson Tide.

Ivory's agent, Jeff Guerriero, told ESPN's Tania Ganguli, his client is innocent.

“I spoke to Brandon he is not guilty and will be cleared of all charges,” Guerriero texted ESPN.
