The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced the hiring of John Spytek as Director of Player Personnel on Monday.

Spytek previously served as a national scout with the Super Bowl-winning Denver Broncos. He was also successful with the Cleveland Browns (Director of College Scouting, 2010-2012), before his stay with the Broncos. He is viewed as one of the NFL’s finest talent evaluators.

Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht knows Spytek from their time together in Philadelphia (2006-2008). Spytek was a rising scout during Licht’s tenure in the Eagles’ personnel department.

In Tampa Bay, Spytek becomes part of the brain trust that is charged with building a championship-caliber team around young quarterback Jameis Winston for new head coach Dirk Koetter.
