Buccaneers C Joe Hawley says a Seahawks lineman spat in his face during game

Things got a little testy this past Sunday during a defensive slugfest between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Seattle Seahawks, and according to Buccaneers center Joe Hawley, one player actually spit in his face after a play.

Hawley didn't offer a name during his Thursday night appearance on 620-WDAE with Tom Krasniqi and Ronnie Lane on WDAE-AM 620 but he did give a number, 90, that corresponds to Seahawks rookie defensive tackle Jarran Reed out of Alabama. A transcript provided by the Tampa Bay Times follows the audio.

"They were hitting me late and when I got up, when I got all fired up, one guy actually spit in my face after one of the plays and I got all fired up because I don’t think that should be part of the game at all" Hawley said. "It’s one thing pushing, shouting, but as soon as he spit in my face, I was pretty fired up about that.

"Yeah I think that’s who it was [number 90]. I’m not sure. He’s a young guy I guess... just that’s not the way to do it."

If true, no, that's not the way to do it at any age.

The Bucs won the game 14-5.
