NFL Sunday odds roundup: Eagles seek an upset against rival Cowboys

The Philadelphia Eagles (4-2) continue to be one of the NFL’s first-half surprises, and they will have the chance to move into a first-place tie with the Dallas Cowboys (5-1) in the NFC East if they can pull off the upset Sunday night as 4.5-point road underdogs on the NFL lines at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

The Eagles have enjoyed some recent success against the Cowboys and hope to continue that betting trend along with another while ending their opponent’s five-game winning streak.

Philadelphia is 4-1 against the spread in the past five meetings with Dallas, according to the OddsShark NFL Database, and the road team has also won six straight in the series. The Eagles were not led by rookie quarterback Carson Wentz or first-year head coach Doug Pederson in any of those games though, so this will be a new experience for both of them.

A similar argument can be made in favor of the Cowboys because they did not have their star rookies around either in quarterback Dak Prescott and running back Ezekiel Elliott, who leads the NFL in rushing despite coming off a bye week.

However, Philly-Dallas is not the only intriguing matchup left after the eight early Week 8 games kick off on Sunday with six teams on byes. The Green Bay Packers (4-2) are listed as three-point road underdogs visiting the Atlanta Falcons (4-3) as they try to win the fifth straight meeting overall and third in a row at the Georgia Dome.

The Packers bounced back from a home loss to the Cowboys by beating up the Chicago Bears 26-10 in the Week 7 Thursday night game. Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers had his best game of the season with 326 yards and three touchdowns versus Chicago, and he will now try to help extend Atlanta’s skid to 11 consecutive losses when playing in the role of favorite.

The Falcons lost to the San Diego Chargers 33-30 in overtime last week as 4.5-point home favorites.

Another key game takes place in the AFC West when the Denver Broncos (5-2) host the Chargers (3-4) in a rematch of their Week 6 battle. San Diego won that first meeting this year 21-13 as a three-point home underdog, and Denver is a five-point home favorite this time around.

The Chargers ended a 10-game losing streak against divisional foes with that last win over the Broncos, and they are 9-1 ATS in their last 10 road games, capped by last week’s comeback victory at Atlanta.
