Steelers season is finally here and we have a date in Washington on Monday night to officially kick things off.

While the team game plans and travels to Washington we’ll be busy looking for mentions of your Black & Gold so we’ve got you covered. Here’s your Steelers Morning Huddle for Sunday, Sept. 11th.

Next man up already

And it wouldn’t be a Steeler season if we weren’t talking about a starter getting injured and someone else having to step up in their place would it? Receiver Markus Wheaton has been ruled out for Monday night’s game against Washington.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reminds us that it is now go-time for the likes of Sammie Coates and Eli Rogers to step in and step up in a big way. Wheaton’s starting spot will most likely be filled by Darrius Heyward-Bey but you can expect to see a lot of Coates and Rogers as well.

Of course there’s still Antonio Brown so it’s not like an emergency or anything.

    Non smoker

Just in case anyone was wondering suspended receiver Martavis Bryant doesn’t smoke anymore. He said so himself. So there’s that.

He doesn’t necessarily have to answer to anyone. Definitely doesn’t have to answer to anyone on Twitter. I’m guessing that’s who the “irrelevant people” he is referring to are. Hopefully he’s doing what he needs to do.

    Going home again

Monday night’s game against the Redskins will be a homecoming for rookie safety Sean Davis. He talks about his level of excitement to play his first NFL game in front of his hometown crowd.

Davis has the chance to make a big impact on the defense this season as his versatility lends him to be able to play both safety and cornerback. What a cool moment for him to play his first game as a pro in his hometown.
