Foles to yield to Keenum next week after another offensive dud

Published Dec. 6, 2015 6:20 p.m. ET

With his team having lost five straight games, an exasperated St. Louis Rams coach Jeff Fisher told reporters he's run out of answers to solve his team's offensive woes.

Fisher also has run out of patience with quarterback Nick Foles, who again showed he's not the answer with another forgettable performance in Sunday's 27-3 home loss to the NFC West-leading Arizona Cardinals.

Foles failed to throw a touchdown pass for the fourth consecutive game, finishing 15-of-35 for 146 yards and an interception. Fisher said Keenum will be the starter for next week's matchup against the Detroit Lions.

Since he tossed three scoring passes in a 24-22 upset of the Cardinals 24-22 in Week 4, Foles has thrown for only two touchdown passes versus nine interceptions in his last seven games.

"It's kind of a broken record thing here with the offense. We've got to get the offense fixed," Fisher said after the Rams managed only three first downs in the opening half Sunday. "It doesn't give yourself a chance to be productive or win games."

Foles was benched after a 37-13 home loss to Chicago on Nov. 15, but got the nod the past two weeks while Keenum was dealing with a concussion. He did nothing to earn another chance after St. Louis was outscored 58-10 in its last two losses.
