Seattle re-signs TE Anthony McCoy to 1-year deal

RENTON, Wash. (AP) The Seattle Seahawks have re-signed tight end Anthony McCoy to a one-year deal after he missed the entire 2013 season with a torn Achilles tendon.

Seattle announced the signing Tuesday prior to the start of free agency. McCoy would have been an unrestricted free agent after spending his entire career thus far with the Seahawks.

McCoy was expected to be a significant part of the Seahawks offense last season as a reserve tight end before suffering his season-ending injury during offseason workouts in May. He had to be a spectator as the Seahawks won their first Super Bowl.

McCoy had 18 receptions and three touchdowns during the 2012 season in a backup role. He said Tuesday he should be ready to participate in the Seahawks' offseason program.
