49ers to meet with Kaepernick's reps about extension this week

Published Jun. 3, 2014 10:47 a.m. ET

The San Francisco 49ers are scheduled to meet with quarterback Colin Kaepernick's representatives this week regarding a contract extension, FOX Sports 1 NFL Insider Mike Garafolo confirms.

The Sacramento Bee first reported the news.

The Niners had appeared to put contract talks on hold when Miami Police named Kaepernick as part of an investigation pertaining to a "€œsuspicious incident"€ that allegedly occurred April 2. The investigation is ongoing, but the renewed contract talks might be a sign that the 49ers believe no charges will be filed.

49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh hasn't wavered in his support of his quarterback. "I feel very good there'll be a good resolution, and hopefully a just one, too," Harbaugh said in April. "I hate to see his reputation be the victim."
