Rookie QB Carson Wentz makes Eagles history with his latest accolade

To say Carson Wentz has had a solid start to his NFL career would be an understatement. A massive understatement.

Through three weeks, he’s thrown five touchdowns and zero interceptions, leading the Eagles to a perfect 3-0 record. He’s also fifth in passer rating (103.8) and is the first rookie in NFL history to throw at least one touchdown and zero interceptions in each of his first three games.

On Thursday, Wentz added to his accolades, making a bit of franchise history in the process. He was named the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Month, the first Eagles rookie ever to take home the award.

Wentz, the second overall pick in the draft, is on the fast track to stardom. For the first time since Donovan McNabb, the Eagles seem to have a true franchise quarterback – one capable of leading them to the Super Bowl. He protects the football while also making spectacular plays, which is unheard of for a rookie.

He’s just the fourth Eagles player in franchise history to win Rookie of the Month, as three defensive players have taken home the award – most recently in 2010 by Nate Allen.
