Romo says Cowboys season isn't over: 'It's far from it'

The drowning Dallas Cowboys will be a thrown a life raft when quarterback Tony Romo returns to action in Week 11 to play against the Miami Dolphins.

Despite the team’s current 2-7 record that has the Cowboys positioned at the bottom of the NFC East, Romo remained positive and said the team shouldn’t be counted out, via ESPN’s Todd Archer.

“I think the guys understand where we’re at. I think they also understand that the season is not over. It’s far from it. I think right now we just need to understand that we’re getting started, and we’ve got to go do our job and do it to the best of our ability and start getting this thing on the roll.”

Posting a message-loaded tweet on Tuesday, Romo admitted his primary goal is beating the Dolphins this week and taking each upcoming game after that, one by one.

Romo also said he isn’t as worried about re-injuring his collarbone as he is about shaking off the rust after not playing for more than two months. Granted, Romo has practiced with the scout team for the last two weeks while on the injured reserve/designated to return list.

Head coach Jason Garrett doesn’t want Romo to think he must come in and “save the day” by doing too much physically. This is a message he has not only for Romo but for all of his other players as well.

“Do your job. You’re 1/11th of the offense. You’re 1/11th of the defense. You’re 1/11th of the special teams unit that you’re on. Do your job. Know your job. Do your job. Be dependable. Be accountable. All those things. Those are messages we’re constantly trying to instill in your guys.”

The Cowboys will look to end their seven-game losing string that began with the now-released Brandon Weeden and ended with Matt Cassel.

With seven more games left to play, though, the Cowboys might need to win all of them while hoping the rest of the NFC East posts some losses so Dallas can catch up.

The New York Giants currently lead the division 5-5, Washington and the Philadelphia Eagles are tied at 4-5 followed by the Cowboys.
