Rob Ryan joining brother Rex with Bills as assistant head coach

The Ryan brothers are going to be on the same sideline.

The Bills announced head coach Rex Ryan has hired his brother Rob as the team's assistant head coach/defense.

“I'm excited to have Rob join our staff and I think he will be a great asset for our defense. He has a tremendous working knowledge of our schemes and I look forward to his input,” Rex Ryan said. “On a personal note, it's been a number of years since we have worked together and so we are both really looking forward to this opportunity.”

Rob Ryan was fired as the Saints defensive coordinator on Nov. 16 when New Orleans' defense fell to 31st in yards allowed and 28th in points allowed during the season.
