REPORT: Caraun Reid will miss rest of season with torn ACL

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

Yes, believe it or not, the San Diego Chargers have lost another player for the season. Caraun Reid has a torn ACL, according to a tweet from Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Reid was claimed off waivers by the Chargers after being part of the Detroit Lions’ final roster cuts in September, and he had worked his way into the rotation, making fellow defensive lineman Darius Philon expendable. On the year, Reid already had one sack to go along with a fumble recovery, which he returned 61 yards.

However, his loss puts the Chargers at five players who have been lost for the season to a torn ACL. That’s troubling, to say the very least.

His loss will likely elevate Philon back to the 46-man playing rostre, as he’s been one of the team’s inactive players in recent weeks.

This is just another disappointing blow for a team that can’t seem to shake the injury bug. Even after a big victory, like the one the Chargers just had over the Atlanta Falcons, it’s still key injuries that we’re talking about the next day.

We hope that Reid makes a full recovery and returns to the team next season to continue progressing into the promising, productive player it looked like he was going to be.
