Report: Bills WR Sammy Watkins won't play on Sunday

Published Nov. 15, 2016 2:08 p.m. ET

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins has been battling a lingering foot injury stemming from offseason surgery, and while he’s played through the pain up to this point, he won’t be doing so on Sunday.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Watkins will be inactive against the Cardinals this afternoon.

This is particularly surprising news given that on Saturday, Watkins tweeted this: “Ready to go out there and compete at the highest level!” That tweet has since been deleted.

Watkins didn’t practice at all this week so it was a long shot for him to be on the field Sunday. The Bills will now be extremely thin at receiver with Marquise Goodwin and Robert Woods likely being the starters.
