Ravens at Jaguars: Highlights, score, and recap

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

The Baltimore Ravens were looking to stay unbeaten while the Jacksonville Jaguars were hoping to grab their first victory on Sunday.

Weren’t the Jacksonville Jaguars the team many people felt were ready to break through this season?

That may still happen, but the team’s 0-2 start has been more of a collective breakdown to date.

Meanwhile, the Baltimore Ravens have done a good job of putting their 5-11 showing out of their minds so far with wins over the Buffalo Bills and Cleveland Browns – the latter after falling behind 20-0. Gus Bradley’s team lost a tough one in Week 1 to the Packers and last Sunday were embarrassed at San Diego, 38-14.

One interesting injury note. This figured to be the season debut for Ravens pass-rushing terror Elvis Dumervil, who finished 2015 with a team-high six sacks. In 138 regular-season games with the Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens, Elvis has been in the backfield 96 times corralling opposing signal-callers. But via Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun, Dumervil did not participate in Friday’s walk-through after practicing both Wednesday and Thursday. Stay tuned.

With left tackle Kelvin Beachum out this week, the Jacksonville offensive line could use all the help it can get. Quarterback Blake Bortles has been sacked five times in two games while the Baltimore pass rush has that many sacks in a pair of contests.

Three Stars

1. Blake Bortles

One season after finishing tied for second in the league with 35 touchdown passes (24 of those to the combination of Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns), Bortles has totaled three scores through the air in two games – none of those to a wide receiver. That changes this week against a Baltimore secondary that still has some doubts at cornerback.

2. Justin Forsett

One season after enjoying a career campaign during his first year with the Ravens, Justin Forsett’s 2015 was shortened due to injury. The Baltimore running game has been slow out of the gates so far this season but the veteran running back has to be licking his chops in anticipation of facing Jacksonville’s disappointing defense (at least for now)

3. Allen Robinson

Can you say overdue? Roughly a year after totaling 80 catches for 1,400 yards and 14 scores and earning his first Pro Bowl invitation, the third-year wideout has totaled just nine catches (for 126 yards) and no scores during the team’s 0-2 start. That changes in a big way this week as Robinson comes up big for the desperate Jaguars.

Odds

The visiting Baltimore Ravens entered Sunday’s game at Jacksonville as a 1-point favorite. The game opened the week as a pick ‘em.

Next Week

The Baltimore Ravens play host to the Oakland Raiders while the Jacksonville Jaguars travel overseas to clash with the division rival Indianapolis Colts in London.
