Pereira: Giants' Beckham could be facing suspension

Published Dec. 20, 2015 7:52 p.m. ET

New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham's after-the-whistle activities in Sunday's 38-35 loss to the Carolina Panthers came to the forefront after the game.

At one point in the action, Beckham sprinted nearly 15 yards to lay a block on Carolina's Josh Norman. Beckham delivered a head-to-head hit, which drew flags.

FOX NFL Sunday officiating analyst Mike Pereira believes that Beckham could face a hefty fine and/or suspension.

"I think they'll consider that," Pereira said. "But really because of the main hit, the absolute shot of him leaving his feet and lowering the crown of his helmet and hitting Norman on the side of the head. I think they'll look at his total body of ridiculousness and it may lead to suspension."

Such a penalty would be a devastating loss to the Giants as they're one game out of first place in the NFC East and play the Vikings and Eagles the final two weeks of the regular season.
