Saints' Zach Hocker calls missed field goal 'unacceptable'

Published Oct. 5, 2015 5:24 p.m. ET

When New Orleans Saints kicker Zach Hocker stepped up for a 30-yard field goal to win the game against the Dallas Cowboys, it was obvious that he had reason to be confident.

Before that kick, Hocker had hit a 51 and 29 yard field goal. As we know at this point, Hocker banged the potential game-winner of the left upright, sending the Cowboys and Saints to overtime.

While the Saints went on to win in overtime, thanks to the 80-yard touchdown pass from Drew Brees to C.J. Spiller, Hocker still had some strong words about his miss, according to Christopher Dabe of The Times-Picayune.

"It's unacceptable," Hocker told The Times-Picayune.

"The win feels great," Hocker said. "It definitely never feels good when you can put your team over the edge, get the walk-off 'W.' There's absolutely no excuse for it."

The win obviously helps to ease the pressure a bit, but in a week where kicking was an issue league-wide, Hocker's miss is still a cause for concern.
