The New England Patriots had a successful 2014 season as they won the fourth Super Bowl in franchise history after defeating the Seattle Seahawks. As a result, the Patriots have been nominated for five ESPY awards.

Head coach Bill Belichick has been nominated for the best coach and will compete with Duke men's basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski, UCONN women's basketball coach Geno Auriemma, Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr and Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer.

Meanwhile, quarterback Tom Brady was nominated for best NFL player and will look to beat out Houston Texans defensive end JJ Watt, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown and Philadelphia Eagles running back DeMarco Murray for the honor. Brady won his fourth Super Bowl and threw for 4,109 yards, 33 touchdowns and nine interceptions last season.

Tight end Rob Gronkowski was nominated for comeback player of the year after he caught 82 passes for 1,124 yards and 12 touchdowns. He will try and beat out Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose, world champion skier Lindsey Vonn and New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez.

Finally, the Super Bowl is nominated for Best Game while the quintessential play from the game, Malcolm Buter's game-clinching interception, is up for winning the ESPY for best play.
