New Chargers DE Unrein looking for 'payback' against the Broncos

Mitch Unrein probably has two Sundays already circled on his calendar.

The former Broncos defensive end wants some revenge now that he's playing for San Diego.

"That actually played into it quite a bit," Unrein told ESPN. "It will be nice to get some payback this year."

Unrein must've felt spurned by a team he's rooted for his entire life. The Eaton, Colo. native grew up about 70 miles north of Denver, but didn't get a contract offer when his deal was up this offseason.

Instead, San Diego payed him a two-year, $1.9 million deal. He'll play as a rotational end -- a role he's used to since his Broncos days. And he'll reunite with head coach Mike McCoy after a few seasons together in the Mile High City.

He'll have to stay on the field to realize his vengeance, though. Unrein was unhealthy for the majority of last season.

Said Unrein: "As long as I can get on the field more than I did in Denver last year, I’ll be a happy camper."
