Zimmer: We're not trying to put Bridgewater in the HOF right now

Teddy Bridgewater is one of the most promising young quarterbacks in the NFL. He's an intelligent and efficient passer who seems to have the makings of a great leader. After starting 12 games for the Minnesota Vikings as a rookie, most are watching Bridgewater with hopes that he'll be even better in his second season.

Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer, however, dumped some cold water on the red-hot Bridgewater hype in a radio interview on The SiriusXM Blitz this week. In short, Zimmer is pleased with the young quarterback's progress so far, but he's not ready to anoint Bridgewater as pro football's next great passer.

"I feel really good about the way that he's progressing," Zimmer said on SiriusXM NFL Radio. "We just want him to keep on that same path. We're not trying to put him in the Hall of Fame right now. All we're trying to do is keep him progressing each day, each week and utilize the weapons around him."

Bridgewater's go-to weapon in 2015 will be All-Pro running back Adrian Peterson, who returns to the field on Monday night after sitting out an entire calendar year.
