Minnesota Vikings CB Trae Waynes to work out with Patrick Peterson

Minnesota Vikings cornerback Trae Waynes has an NFL idol: Arizona's Patrick Peterson.

Waynes, a 2015 first-round pick, has plans to workout with Peterson in Boca Raton, Fla., before reporting to training camp, according to Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press. It's a big opportunity for the rookie, who's excited just to have Peterson as one of his 27,600 "followers" on Twitter.

"Some tricks of the vet," Waynes told the Pioneer Press about what he hopes to learn. "Because the vets, they know all the concepts and all this kind of stuff, like the little things that help slow the game down to make it easier. So hopefully that's something he can show me."

Peterson was the fifth-overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft and has made the Pro Bowl in each of his first four professional seasons. The LSU product isn't even 25 years old yet and already has 15 career interceptions.

Waynes has been a big fan of Peterson for quite some time.

"He's somebody I look up to," Waynes said, per the Pioneer Press. "He went to one of the colleges that I always watched, LSU. That's where I wanted to go, and I've watched him ever since college."

Waynes went to Michigan State instead of LSU, but he and Peterson are still on track to cross paths this summer. Perhaps the young cornerback can pick up a few handy tips from one of the NFL's finest at his position.
