Adrian Peterson has first 100-yard rushing game since 2013

In a 26-16 win over the Detroit Lions in Week 2, Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson exploded for 134 yards on 28 carries (4.6 yards per carry). After he eclipsed the 100-yard mark, ESPN's Ben Goessling noted that it was Peterson's first 100-yard game since Dec. 1, 2013.

Peterson, who missed all but one game last season on the exempt/commissioner's permission list, carried the ball only 10 times for 31 yards against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1. Although his comeback got off to a slow start, the All-Pro running back appears to be back up to speed after the Lions game.

In addition to his 134 rushing yards, Peterson was also the Vikings' leading receiver (in terms of yardage) in Week 2 with two catches for 58 yards. That's a total of 192 yards from scrimmage for the 30-year-old veteran.

While the yardage came easily for Peterson, he couldn't buy a touchdown against the Lions. He had one goal-line plunge overturned upon review, and quarterback Teddy Bridgewater ran it in on the next play. Later on, fullback Zach Line got the call over Peterson to punch one in from one-yard out.

Another area in which Peterson came up short was ball security. He fumbled three times, although one was negated by a Lions penalty and another was recovered by the Vikings.
