Mike Zimmer rips offensive line after Vikings' 'embarrassing' loss to Eagles

The Minnesota Vikings were the last team this season to taste defeat, falling to Eagles 21-10 on Sunday. The Vikings are still in first place in the NFC North and in prime position for a playoff berth despite losing Teddy Bridgewater and Adrian Peterson to season-ending injuries earlier this year.

So all is not lost after just one defeat, right? Well, Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer wasn’t looking on the bright side, basically ripping every aspect of the team’s performance.

“It was embarrassing in at least two of the phases,” Zimmer said, via the Star-Tribune, “and I’m very disappointed in the performance that we gave today. We turned the ball over offensively, we didn’t block people, we dropped balls, we got the quarterback hit, we [need] two inches and we can’t convert on third down or fourth down, we got three shots in the red zone in the first half, we throw an interception, we gave up a 98-yard kickoff return, we fumbled a punt. If you’re going to do those things, you have no chance to win.”

Then Zimmer decided to take another, more-specific shot at the offensive line.

“We didn’t block anybody,” he said. “We were soft. We got overpowered.”

Bradford was sacked six times in the loss. The Vikings get an extra day to fix their woes, facing the Bears next Monday night.
