Dolphins' Reshad Jones on playoff hopes: 'It's an eight-game season'

No team has been officially ruled out of the playoff race just yet, but the Miami Dolphins are one squad inching towards that.

At 3-5 and trailing the 8-0 Patriots in the AFC East, the Dolphins' playoff hopes are on life support, but safety Reshad Jones won't rule out a trip to the postseason just yet.

"Most definitely," Jones said when asked if the Dolphins are still in the playoff hunt, via the Sun Sentinel. "It's an eight-game season right now. Everything we've done up to this point doesn't even matter. ... It's an eight-game season and that's all we can look forward to right now."

In addition to trailing the Patriots, they're also two games behind the Jets for a Wild Card spot, in addition to several other teams. They're the 13th-best team in the AFC record-wise, so they've got a long way to go to secure a trip tot he playoffs.

One way they can make it happen: run the ball. The Dolphins are second in the NFL in yards per attempt rushing, with Lamar Miller averaging 5.3 yards per carry on his own. What's puzzling is the fact that they've run the ball less than just one team, the Detroit Lions.

Making the playoffs won't be easy, but the season isn't over yet, as Jones said.
