Who are the latest NFL coaches to get canned this season?

Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy was tipped as the marginal front-runner ahead of Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin, with Dolphins secondary coach Todd Bowles deemed a "fallback option."

All three met with Ross and general manager Jeff Ireland over the past 48 hours, which apparently had a different impact on the two favorites' job searches.

While Philbin interviewed Thursday for the head coaching vacancy at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, McCoy removed his name for the Oakland Raiders head coaching job, the Herald reported, citing a source.

Philbin undertook this week's interviews in the aftermath of the death of his 21-year-old son, whose funeral was held last Friday.

Phibin was released from all activities with the Packers but chose to attend the team's NFC divisional playoff defeat to the New York Giants last Sunday.
