Miami Dolphins: Kenny Stills Replacement Already In South Beach?

If Kenny Stills is to leave the Dolphins this offseason they will have to explore other options. A suitable replacement may be closer than you think.

As much as Miami Dolphins fans don't want to hear it, there is a good chance Kenny Stills may be leave Miami this offseason. There are already rumors swirling about other potential destinations for the talented deep threat. If the market out prices him, there's just nothing that can be done. At this point, the team needs to have a backup plan in case Stills heads elsewhere this offseason.

The Dolphins may not have to look very far for a replacement. The man they need may already be in South Beach. Just this week the team was awarded three compensatory picks, a third-round selection and two fifths for Olivier Vernon, Lamar Miller and Rishard Matthews. With one of those fifth-rounders, they could target Miami Hurricanes wideout Stacy Coley.

Coley is listed 6-1 and about 193 pounds. He has top end speed to beat defenses over the top and is far more dangerous in the open field than Stills. Coley has punt returner like quickness and is not only a threat down field. He can also be utilized on screens and in open space as well. He's also more than capable of going up and ripping the ball away from defenders with outstanding athleticism, hands and body control. There is no reason he can't be an immediate impact player.

We have seen Miami speedsters slip in the draft in recent years and explode on to the scene. Allen Hurns and Travis Benjamin come to mind and the Indianapolis Colts are currently developing Phillip Dorsett, who they drafted in the first round in 2015. Miami is an NFL superstar factory and they produce players ready for the NFL year after year, despite a slip in team success on the field as of late.

Not only would Coley be a strong option to replace Stills if needed, he's also more realistic than some of the other names being thrown around, mostly by fans. Alshon Jeffery is going to get huge money and it's doubtful DeSean Jackson is destined for Miami. With Jarvis Landry and DeVante Parker having to be paid soon and a lot invested in Leonte Carroo, the Dolphins aren't spending big money on a free agent wide receiver and shouldn't. If they let Stills walk, the draft is the way to go and Stacy Coley is the right fit.
