Looking ahead to Sunday's matchup: Green Bay Packers @ Atlanta

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

The Green Bay Packers travel south this weekend to face the Atlanta Falcons.

For the Falcons, their running game and running backs have been some of the best in the league. The Falcons are currently ranked 13th in the league in rushing, and second in the league in passing.

Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman have been a huge part of that success.

Coleman has been ruled out for Sunday’s game, so that will mean an increased workload for Freeman. Coleman currently leads the Falcons in scoring with six touchdowns, and 564 through the air and on the ground.

The Packers are ranked first in rushing defense, and have only allowed one rushing touchdown all season. They are holding opposing running games to just 71.8 yards per game and 3.1 yards per attempt.

Could Aaron Rodgers have a big day against Atlanta?

The Falcons are currently ranked 31st in the league in pass defense, allowing opposing quarterbacks to at least 294 yards per game.

In 2014, the two teams faced off in Week 14 at Lambeau, and it was a very high-scoring game.

The Packers ended up defeating the Falcons 43-37, with Aaron Rodgers throwing for 327 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions. Jordy Nelson had a huge game for Green Bay by hauling in eight receptions for 146 yards and two touchdowns.

Matt Ryan and Julio Jones posted huge numbers against Green Bay in 2014 as well. Matt Ryan threw for 375 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception. Jones had 259 yards receiving on 11 catches, and one touchdown.

The Packers will plan to incorporate Ty Montgomery into the rushing game again, and maybe fans will get to see Knile Davis lineup in the backfield more on Sunday.

By the looks of it, this game could be a very high-scoring affair like 2014, as both teams have quarterbacks who can sling the ball and receivers who can make plays.

The Packers will travel to Atlanta on Sunday, with kickoff at 3:25 p.m. (CT).
